Try $4700 a year. I also have 15% off for driver's ed and good grades. My record is 100% clean. No speeding tickets, wrecks, nothing and it is $4700. Then, my dad started searching around for other insurance companies, and they told him that the RX8 was either too problematic to insure or was too expensive when damaged to insure. He did not find that too comforting and neither did I.
Ouch, and here I am bitching about my insurance company jacking my rate up $100 to $417/6 mo, because of a minor accident a yr ago and a speeding ticket almost 3 yrs ago...and at 16, I didn't even have a driver liscense

Great purchase and welcome to the club!
My first car was a 1990 honda accord! It was definatey an A to B car!
As much as your friends try/want you to go fast, dont! Resist the temptation!
If you just cant resist, take it to the track and hammer it there
At least its in a controlled environment and that little 1% "around the bend" factor dissapears.
You could be the best driver in the world and all it takes is a dumb idiot to cross your path and bang!
Enjoy the car and mod it! Im still stuck on the bug!

wow, i never really realized how many young people are on this board, i too received this car as a gift from my father when i was 16. I'm 19 now, and i still don't understand how a kid of 16 can afford a car like this, brand new or even used. Whatever the situation is congrats and take care of it.
I'm not telling you to speed just because you've been with the company for a while, just something to keep in mind if you when you file a claim. Of course, it could be different in different state too.
congrats on your car!
i absolutely know how you feel
i got mine new last year when i turned 16
i still remember the feeling of (going to your garage every 5 minutes just to remind yourself "hey you got your own car now")
time to become a victim of Crazy for Mods
and hope you have good grades like i did. helps with a couple hundred on the insurance bill.
also be aware of becoming a "chick magnet (++ if youre a good looking fella)", lots of cars on the road want to race you, and yes you turn heads.
GOOD LUCK! HAVE FUN
