Went on a nice touge run with my friend in his 2.5 RS and my GTUs up in the foothills outside of Sacramento. There was a patch of snow so I decided to see if I could drive over it:

 

Of course I instantly got stuck. The Kumho MX's just dug down into the snow.

I finally managed to get my car out with much revving and laughing.

My friend tried the same patch of snow in his RS:

 

As you can see, he's laughing because he got stuck too!

He managed to get unstuck alot easier than I did.

Here's a last one if you wanted to see what the tread pattern is like on the Kumho MX's.

How do you find the Kumho MX's? I was thinking about them as a replacement tire for the Rx-8 when the stockers run out. I had a set out Kumho Exsta(sp?) supra 712's on my old first gen Rx-7 and they were pretty good.

Nice GTUs. Almost bought one a while back. Pretty rare.

 

Sure, Subaru AWD is fantastic. BUT, this is exactly the same thing we say about RX-8s - it's not the car, it's the TIRES. High-performance summer tires are completely useless on snow and ice, and it doesn't matter if they're on a RWD or AWD car. Put winter tires on either of those cars, and they would have both had zero trouble with that snow (lots of us dealt with much more snow than that with our RX-8s on winter tires, no problems).

AWD is not magic - it still requires proper tires for road conditions.

Yeah, GTUs's are extremely rare. It looks like you take great care of it...

 

you just need some Dunlop Wintersport M3's on there... I managed to go through snow so deep that the car was bottoming out :p
