I think it depends what you want from a car, while i think they both look good but they offer totally different experience
rx8 1.3 n/a rotary with not so much torque but its got a very comfortable and modern interior, it handles very well and it can match or even beat cars on track with better power to weight ratio and at the end of the day on track you can just cruise home in comfort, and chill.
While the S15 offer excellent power gain with simple bolt on mods like air filter and full exhaust that gives u automatic upboost of .1 bar or so.. with a EVC.. hold boost at .9 bar.. and power PC would hold around 16x kw atrw. This already offer plenty of torque and power to play with on track/street as a learner. However as these power increases.. even with 255 rears.. it can break traction by simply heel and toeing to keep rev and turning steering wheel..and not even full throttle it can break rear traction quite easily under some conditions.. its quite a handful car.. although already improved from previous platform where it just snaps easily.. the S15 already understeer first then once push.. the rear would brake out... on track.. really have to master throttle control... compare to our cars / evos/ wrx / FF cars like Type Rs..
both good looking / fun car, but S15 definitely require more skills to go fast I think. Perhaps it has always been a drift oversteer "fun" platform.. although I know ppl can go very fast.. but i think it requires more effort/skills to go fast in that ~
my 2 cents.
