Se3p / Fe32 ?

Hello to fellow rx-8 owners,

just wanted to know y when i look at the advert in the newspapers, i see FE32 on top of MM's Rx8 and yet i see SE3P for those car games, esp in Initial D or Maximum Tune.

Wats the difference these 2 "names"?

Does FE32 refers to MM's authorised RX8 while SE3P is the chassis code that refers to the JDM RX8?

Another query i have abt the 231bhp RX8 from MM and the PI 250bhp 6 Speed RX8, wats the performance difference the 2 cars?

know that the MM 231hp model is detuned for use on our local roads, with 2 oil coolers instead of the PI 1.

Will the MM's rx8 be significantly slower than the PI 6 speed?

Thanks for enlightening.

1st thing 1st - MM model is the euro export model so its called FE32.
SE3P is the JDM model in japan.

ours is detuned to 231hp to suit euro emission standard, if i'm not wrong. Performance difference, very hard to tell, cos unless both FE32 and SE3P side by side, orginal car, race with each other, else that 19 horses very hard to differentiate.

as for being slower, i dun tink so.... IMHO......

The high powered version, 250hp or 231 (euro car) version all have 2 oil coolers right on the left and right holes of the lower spoiler.

Its the automatic version / low power version, 210hp that comes with 1 oil cooler, thats on the left side, the right side is covered by an oil cooler-like grates, but its actually a fake, just to balance the sides...

Anyway you rarely can see it through unless you examine the holes of the front spoiler closely.

yeap, as what coup07 has mentioned. as for power, dun worry about it. i'm think until now, no one has been able to go to the point where one is noticably faster than the other. though pls note tat if i'm not wrong, jdm models have a speed cut while the euro ones don't. this can be over-rided though with some mods. all of these i've read from the threads here so pls feel free to browse ard to know more.

Himitsu,

As far as I know, JDM's SE3P doesn't come with 2 oil coolers. Only one. 19horses short can be felt, JDM DEFINITELY quicker.. but if u don't bring it to track, I don't see y u shd bother.. besides 2 oil coolers is a BIG plus.. Rightly point out by Coupe07, its detuned due to higher Euro emission standard.

My 2cents worth..

Anyone knows what makes the difference between the high powered one (250bhp) and the low powered one (210bhp)?

Both engines should be the same right? ECU tuning? Any clue?

Juz as i suspected. JDM is called SE3P while the MM one is called FE32.

Yup, heard that the MM one have no speed cut.

the PI speed cuts can be removed using some small device. i saw this device on some hk mag which sounds like SLD - Speed Limited Dxxxxx. cun remember wat its called but its definitely for RX8 and it has another version for the 350z.

Saw a RX8 funbook at Taka Kino, has some contents similar to the HyperRev RX8 issue, even the price is similar. juz thot some of u guys would like to go check it out.

Seriously, has anyone tried bringing a stock PI 250hp and the stock MM to test out the difference?

Would definitely like to know wats the outcome.

Anyway, thats some of the queries my bf has for the rx8. he got a MM version a month ago. n he's enjoying his ride very much.

i still think even the 250/231 hp rx8 is underpower, at least i think abit slower than the euro R.

thanks for all ur replies.

slower than euro R? i beg to differ, sis........

underpowered cos this car's low end torque is very weak therefore u may feel underpowered....

this car is actually quite highpowered once the car tacho is constantly in the high band....... theres no way this car can lose to a euro R.......

Tell you a BIG SECRET!

JDM RX-8 is NOT 250hp!!!!!!

People have tested a lot of Renesis and most of them get 230 ps at best. Some Type S is as bad as 180 ps. The 4 port engine is about 160ps in average rather than 210ps.

**** is it! We are not alone!
So when they said your and our in Australia are 231hp... we prob bucka all hp... I dynoed at 178hp at the wheel but it is after all the mods...

i see ur point...

hm... actually the bf traded in the euro R for this MM rx8.

n being a co-passenger in both cars... i felt that the euro gives a more torquey, louder, more raw feeling.

anyway. the bf's view is that the rx8 might not be more powerful as the Euro R.

perhaps it would be on par, as the euro is 220hp and has a higher torque.

dun mean to say that the 8 is significantly slower than the R.

at least the 8 is easier to do U-turns and more fun to drive then the saloon, and more eye catching.

no hard feelings.

cheers.

nopee. his is white. and his car is not the 2003 model, its the older slim eye model CL1, 2.2L with the black headlights, n he sold it to a close fren.

the new one is the CL7. Might be slightly easier to find CL7 becoz there are quite a lot of pple driving it and selling it. There are only 22 units of CL1 left. anyway CL7 is a gd choice, very refined, very comfortable feeling, we test drove it in one dealer's car.
