Nothing's going on with it. The strip where the Mazda RX8 emblem is, is a dark gun metal grey color. It's possible the angle and lighting make it look black.

Okay, I think I get it. The darker strip is standard on my car which is an '04 Hi-speed. I just assumed that was normal on every car. I'm not sure if this strip was removed in later models or has something to do with the 5-speed vs the 6-speed. Here in SA there aren't that many models on the road to compare them too.
If you look at Silver_Mazda09's pic upstairs, my car's rear end is exactly the same.

8's are not very common on our roads which is gr8 for exclusivity. Ppl in SA are slightly brainwashed by major brands like Merc, BMW, Audi, VW and Toyota.
Also, we don't get many exotic models as some overseas markets so ppl tend to go for more traditional, conservative choices.

The first pic. Is really cool, but how come only one headlight bulb seems to be on. Are the 8's really expensive over there?. Also, looks like you have some really nice roads to drive around in.
