My new toy!!

Just bought it yesterday, Dealership delivered it free this morning! 2007 Suzuki GSXR 600. Full Yoshimura titanium exhaust with carbon fiber can. Few other little upgrades added. Got it to take my eyes of the turbo's I was looking at. and to save some money on gas!

And this is of course an rx8 forum so I had to take a picture of the girls togather! The rx8 is a little dirty but I park in a dust field every time i go to work, so no sense in washing all that often. Usually I will wash her every friday.

hmmm very nice, but would you not be paying more for insurance now and therefor probably cheaper to use it on gas for the 8

Haha actually insurance is only $47 a month. But I always had the intentions of buying another bike just for the simple joys of riding. The saved gas is just a side benefit. I bought my rx8 back in the beginning of september of 2010 i believe... and I have already put almost 11,000 miles on it, I got the extended warranty so I would like it to atleast last the 4 years rather then hit the 48,000 mile mark first.

Thanks guys, Will mostly just be using this to commute in between home and work and the occasional joy rides to the beach and what not. I just transfered jobs to proctor and gamble which is right in town so only a short drive. So the speed limit isnt much more than 35 so Im not to worried.

We get snow here as well being Im in the midwest. but the 6 months that I can drive it I find it to be worth it.

Yea bikes are actually super cheap to insure. I'm only 20 so my dad is the primary driver along with me, so the premiums are much lower. Once I turn 25 I will transfer the primary to just me. Then insurance will be even cheaper because there will only be one driver on the bike rather than two. Hit a country road earlier and opened up 1st gear, got up to 65mph and still had about 4k rpm left, redlines at 18k i believe. Didnt want to go much faster as the speed limit is 60 but being the end of the months cops are EVERYWHERE!!

Already got a nice helmet obviously. Any opinions on some good riding gear?

I actually joined the GSXR forum and began asking question about the bike and getting the facts before I got it. Anyways below my user name is says "squid" What does that mean!! Me and my girlfriend found that hysterical! I mean I can assume its a beginner or "noob" but whats the corilation?

Clean looking bike, I like the color. Did you pay for it in full or do you have a loan on it that your paying? If you have a loan on it then don't say you bought it to save on gas, just say you got it to ride. Cause after you pay the note and the insurance, it'll prob be about the same or more a month than you're paying for gas for just the car. I ride my bike a lot to work, but I'll never say I bought it to save on gas.

Either way you should look into getting a nice riding jacket and some nice gloves. Don't skimp on the riding gear, it will bite you in the *** one day if you're not prepared. A lot of people don't ride with leg protection for some reason, even tho 99% of the time if you have an off you'll be sliding on your ***/knees/hips. At the least get some reinforced jeans. Shift makes some nice looking ones, and you can find them on closeout at a lot of online places... I recommend www.revzilla.com and www.newenough.com And don't forget the boots...if you do happen to fall and slide, street shoes will fly right off and you'll destroy your ankle...trust me I've seen it and it's not a pretty sight. Either way, ride safe..that's a hell of a bike to start out on.

Alpinestars make very good gear. you gotta get yourself a jacket, gloves, riding jeans, and boots. dont ride without those on the street. you will thank me when someone decided not to see you and wipe you off the road.
trust me, Ive walked away many accidents without even hurting myself (I track).

as for the meaning of squid.

I'm not starting on this bike. I have been riding dirt bikes for a good majority of my life. I bought a 2008 ninja 250r last may which I spent a good time riding. I also never said my original reason of buying the bike was to save guess. I figured it was common sence that i bought it to ride. And then the extra perks are what I added.

Haha!! Well I in no means consider myself a "squid" no stunts, I find quick corners more thrilling than straight speeds and a helmet is an ALWAYS!

I will start shopping for some gear once I get a chance. I'm not doing to much highway driving, mostly residential/city driving. so generally nothing over 30 mph. So I will look into some light gear that will suit my needs.
