Yeah, I'd set the peak warning at 100 C and it went mental after the half hour on the skid pan at Prodrive - the car was revving maddly catching spins and heading off in spins the other direction with very little airflow - i.e. low speeds so the radiator wasn't doing much!

Take the header cap off at that point and you'd have a nice plume of water vapour!!!

Orbist that is a nice setup. Do you get any issues with glare off the gauges (tough to see reading) since it is mounted almost parallel with the dash?

Nope, glare not been a problem so far, mind you its autumn/winter here - but plenty of low sunny days at the moment and not had any problems.

Yeah, I also thought that would be a problem with those gauges, but I've had them for a month or two, and had no problems at all.

Looks nice.

Not sure if I could ever get used to driving on the right side. I think I would smack my hand on the door every once in a while trying to reach for the shifter.

Have you ever driven a left hand drive vehicle, orbist?

Yeah, I work for IBM so quite often state-side. I haven't yet felt confident enough to request a manual hire car, so not as bad when driving an automatic.

However, there is one thing I ALWAYS do, and you feel so darn stupid...

... looking up and out the side window to find the rear view mirror

The only dangerous time is when the roads are empty - as long as there are cars to follow its easy enough to stick to the correct side of the road.

For example, only time I've made a mistake was after just getting into San Jose after an 11 hour flight to LAX + 1 hour to SJ, early evening, jump in the hire car and onto the interstate. Heading to the Holiday Inn at bottom end of central SJ and come down the off ramp. Turning left at the bottom and turned immediately left as you would in the UK. The look on the people's faces waiting at the lights as I was heading towards them! A quick right left and I was back on track! Easily done when tired and at the front of the queue!

While on the subject of differences, I love the right turn on red rule, make so much sense. We don't have the equivalent rule here for some reason. Oh and undertaking on the motorway (freeway) is a serious no-no over here. You must only overtake on the right - unless some pratt is hogging the lane infront of you and there's no police about that is !
