Modified Magazine, January 2008
#26
Modified is the only car mag I read regularly.
I used to like SCC, but it got thin and stupid.
SS is the preferred magazine for the SOCal JDM ricebois.
I thumb through Turbo and Import Tuner from time to time, but magazines are just so fluffy these days.
If there are some inspiring pics, I'll buy an issue, but there just aren't any magazines with technical substance.
The main thing is: there is a dearth of RX-8 coverage in the mags. I hope mine doesn't seem too wimpy to the "hard-core" magazine racers.

Sorry, joke went flat.
I actually read the article - bottom of first para, page 62, he says you have "nine-inch" wheels.......
Good article anyway!

Congrats, something special to get an 8 in a mag, it being on some black list or other. Super clean turbo install! Where are your girls in all those pics

I agree on the magazine selection. I have a subscription to SCC since 1994 and ended a few years ago when it started getting thin and Modified stepped in with better content. Congrats. Tough getting 8 coverage in the mags. Who do you know? (wink)

Very nice. It may just convince me to get that mag and check it out. I always lumped it in with the rest of the "ricer" mags. Huge wings and gull wing doors are not for me.

Fantastic pictures of a great car, and the writeup really told how great the 8 can be and got a few nice jabs and digs in on Mazda for not stepping it up.
Someone should mail a copy of the article to the Mazda heads and maybe they will recognize potential, or even better pay MazdaManiac for designing a turbo for their car and then mass produce it hehe. (I can dream)

Glad y'all liked the story and photos so much. Keep buying the magazine so they'll keep buying stories from me. You know I'll keep pushing for more RX-8 stories when I find worthy cars. There's several in LA I'd like to feature for Modified, if I can get the editor to go for them.
BTW-I've got two more stories "on deck" in the next few months in Modified. I should also have a few tech stories on the RX-8 coming out in Mazda Sport Magazine. Since they're pushing Subie Sport and Nissan Sport titles at Barnes and Nobles, I'm expecting to find Mazda Sport there too very soon.
Be certain to let the folks at Modified know you'd love to see more RX-8 coverage! They can't run a Nissan, Subaru, or Mitsubishi on EVERY cover, right?
