MazdaManiac Takes Apart a Renesis

I was just showing this to Rick who said "Oh sh.., he's gonna skin the crank!" as the center flat housing was coming up. Jeff, why are you throwing all the parts into a box? You won't be able to totally follow the trail and be precise in what led to what in the failure if you can't place every seal to it's exact location.

What went wrong in the engine is obvious - something entered the rear rotor and ate up the housing.
All of the apex seals are intact. In fact, ALL of the seals are intact. Even the "O" rings came out intact. Never seen that before.
But there is a gouge in the housing on both sides of the combustion area and a gouge on the rear iron were something hard entered the motor. You can clearly follow its path around the motor.
What it was I don't know - it exited the motor after it was done with its mayhem.
That explains why it ran relatively well after it "blew".
All of the side seals are over-clearance. I don't care where they came from.
I am simply going to harvest the one good housing and pick 3 irons out of the 6 that look best and sent the other three off to Glenn.
This motor will be built with only slightly more attention to detail than the last.
Very slightly.
So far, being cavalier with the rebuild is paying dividends, so I don't want to mess with the formula.
Besides, I like having a supposedly crap motor that outruns are carefully built one.

Helping again? You did all the work last time! I just stood around drinking and smoking!
Maybe we should cart the box of junk up to SSXII and do a motor building clinic.
Bet we could **** of the intelligentsia pretty good with the MM/BHR Ghettofabulous "Any Seal in a Storm" technique.
Worked pretty damn good, I think.

Drinking and smoking is simply MazdaManiac's impersonation of Steve Kan, his hero.
How the HELL would we squeeze in an assembly demonstration along with the models, engine diagnosis services, and etcetera? Plus, you'll just be running around bothering all the other vendors while I stand around looking lost. Then, you'll "Rick-Roll" SSXII and the party will start.
One of those intelligentsia is posting in this thread right now and I really don't wanna **** him off by making it all look simple. He might fly into a steroid rage, become The Black Hulk, and tear the BHR booth to shreds. (Sorry, Man, the mental imagery was too funny for me to keep it to myself.)
Really, all we did was make sure each side seal had the same ****-poor clearances that Mazda allows to leave their own factory.

So you guy's should have plenty of time to yourselves.

Sounds like a good idea to me Erick. I think we should let the BHR retards have time to themselves.

The only way in and out is on the east side and, essentially, one road.
Unless you are stupid enough to actually stumble in and help yourself to the fridge, you aren't going anywhere.
