I just got it back from the engineers who put this on. It's a pretty tough kit to fit on. there will be a few engineering changes to make it installation friendly.

I'm confused. Why would you have engineers install a Mazdaspeed kit when any dealership can do it? That's where I had mine done and it seemed pretty "installation friendly" to me.

If you noticed he mentioned this was the original MS kit for test fitment to be sure it worked with NA spec, which I am curious to know what is different from our cars and the Japan spec in terms of body fitment. Of course, I thought it already fit correctly?

I am guessing you work for Mazda or are affiliated? If there are changes coming will there be a cheaper domestic version of the MS bodykit offered as well?

Aftermarket satisfaction is a lot different than OEM Satisfaction. We wanted to ensure that the gaps were acceptable. Japan spec on accessories is different from what I understand. Can't explain why... I'm not an engineer. Where did you get your kit from? Dealer or import?

As of now, it will be the same price. what we try to do here in NA is locally source a supplier who can replicate so that we can offer it at a lower price. Yes I am affiliated.

OK, I'm still confused. My kit is a genuine MAZDASPEED kit. I bought it from Trussville Mazda. If you go to the Rosenthal Mazda vendor thread you can even look up the warranty info from their website.

Now, if you're saying that this kit will be an OEM US kit vs. an OEM Japanese kit, then I think the only mods that need to be done are putting the install instrux. in english. If you know of other modifications that will be done, please let us know.

I think MS is just trying to let people know how Special he is that he has this Special MS kit.. when there are tons of other people already out there with the SPECIAL MS kit.. ya know? Why come here telling us about future engine mods... then the next moment says can't say anything about it. Uhmm.. what's the point of that?

It's not like anyone can't already just buy MS engine stuff directly from Japan.

I have no problem with people giving info on availability of the MS kit in the US, I'm more concerned about his "engineers". I'm picturing a bunch of guys making six figure salaries for smoking cigs behind some locked door.

"Don't worry MS RX-8, we'll have that body kit "engineered" in no time." Meanwhile the only engineering they're doing is installing yellow side markers instead of white.

WOW,
YOU ARE GOING TO COPY THE MS KIT YOU GOT FROM JAPAN.
AND CALL IT N.A. SPEC. RX8 BODY KIT.............

BUT DON'T COME HERE AND TELL PEOPLE THAT YOU ARE MAKING ANY CHANGES TO THE ORIGINAL MAZDASPEED BODY-KIT!

ALL YOU ARE GOING TO DO IS COPY IT ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Actually, one mod that the kit does need is LHD mirrors. I noticed that your car doesn't have MAZDASPEED mirrors. Will you be manufacturing US-Spec mirrors as well? Any info on these would be appreciated.

There is a J-spec Mazdaspeed kit and a US spec Mazdaspeed kit - the difference is the size of the opening in the front bumper. The US bumper has a smaller opening due to the crash bumper being bigger then the the J-spec crash bumper. Speedsource mentioned this in their thread about the race prepped RX8s they built.

You would think that they would test Mazdaspeed Spec US versions at Irvine... because I've already seen them test the Turbo version on the road... huge hood thingy.

I regret that I caused so much confusion. There is a difference between J-spec and US-spec as prober states.
I said that I am affiliated, doesn't mean that I work there.
By the way, Mazda has many locations in the US and anybody knows that all OEM manufactures have locations in Detroit. I guess that it would be possible that since it only takes 30 min. to get from NW Ohio to Detroit that I could have Ohio plates on my vehicle.
I don't think that I'm special, just thought that this was the place to go to share with others. Last time I checked, the website was rx8"CLUB" not bash rx8 "owners".

So now that my first day got me my *** handed to me. I think that I'll try to start over. Tough Crowd!

I work with a law firm who handles many of the OEM IP cases. I bought this car because one of my responsibilities is Mazda. Just so happens that I bought this in September and had the kit installed in November. After seeing it at SEMA I begged my contact to get me one from Mazda. I paid for it of course but the installation was free because they needed to look at the difference in spec. I left the vehicle there for the testing over the winter. I just got it back since all the snow is gone. I think that it looks great. The engine Mods are not a secret, I'm just not sure what they will be. Once I speak to my contact and he explains it to me, I'll be happy to share.
I was only being short earlier because I was at work and checking these messages during my breaks.

First of all, working at a law firm that does IP work for Mazda does not make you an "affiliate" anymore than it makes you an "affiliate" if you were an attorney representing a criminal. From your post, I take it you're not even an attorney, so you're REEEEAAAALLLY stretching the definition of "affiliate".

If there's a difference between j-spec and us-spec, its probably the black plastic piece that crosses the middle opening of the front bumper. It has absolutely nothing to do with fitment. My kit came directly from Japan with that plastic piece so I'm sure your contacts had nothing to do with the engineering on my kit. As you can see, my kit fits perfectly.

I think you were stretching the truth a little and you got caught. No biggie.
