Mazda Speed RX-8 here in US

2010 Prius - Miss the 8
Ok ok, I think we're all affiliated with Mazda, since I own an RX-8, that makes me affiliated too. I'm going to MY dealership tomorrow and let them know I'm affiliated with them, and I'm going to get all my stuff labor charged waived. Sounds good to me.
/endjackholeness..
Ok, seriously though, with ALL the modifications the true Mazdaspeed JDM version, it'll cost at least 10k-15k to add everything to make it a Pure Mazdaspeed RX-8... kinda like Pokemon, gotta install it all... good luck, can't wait to see the finished product.

I'm "affiliated" with Mazda in Australia.
This is because I've mowed the lawn of Joe Smith, who is the Vice President of RX8 Turbo Development in Japan, but happens to live here in Sydney, Australia.
For mowing his lawn, I get the first turbo kit which has been strapped onto my ride on mower for development work.
Production should be soon, but I can't reveal any details yet, but I can hint that the turbo-back exhaust system may get a optional grass catcher device.
I'll post more details once it is legally cleared by my other Mazda affiliate in Ohio.

aw, leave the poor guy alone. he's got a nice car and he wants to show it off. and it is a damn fine looking car, and i'm curious to see what new mods he'll put on it.
as for the us spec j spec thingy, i know that the front and backend of the us/japan cars are slightly different because we have different crash standards here. which is why the evo's front end is different structurally than the jpan version. in fact the one of the reasons we didn't see an evo in the states for so long was that mitsubishi couldn't justify redesigning the front end of their evos to meet us standards because the costs would have been greater than profits gained from selling about 5k units of evos. only recently as sport cars became more popular did the japan manufacturers take the risk of sending over their dream cars (evo, sti, skyline, rx8, etc). which i say paid off in spades.
if MS rx8 says he's helping the development of the US spec ms kit, i for one will give him the benefit of my doubt. i dont believe him 100% but then again ford has lots of plants in ohio so maybe there just might be some engineers over there hanging out.

RX8Bliss... read what he said again.. he works for a law firm that works with that particular branch of Mazda. That does not make him "working with" Mazda in developing the US Spec Mazdaspeed. That's like the Janitor saying he's Organizing Manager of Inventory at Mazda USA.

Let's try this approach:
Affiliate - To become closely connected or associated.
I consider myself closely connected because the development of Mazda parts in NA is contingent upon the consultation that I give with respect to IP rights. Like it or not, a lot of the parts that have been sourced here in NA had a lot to do with who owns the IP rights on the parts.
Spec differences: Because of different standards for Europe and J-spec, there were concerns that there may be a gap when installing front and rear fascias due to differences in brackets. In addition, there seemed to be some question about the rear brackets on the side skirts leaving a gap towards the rear of the Skirts (not that this is a spec difference, rather a quality assurance question). Not sure what the outcome was. Lastly, the English instructions will also appear in the US spec.
By the way the "MS" in "MS RX-8" doesn't just stand for Mazda Speed, so for those of you that keep referring to me as a guy, please understand that I am a woman.

Go Ohio! Are you going to rotary revolution? It will be fun!!
Do you have knowledge through your consulting of all the parts coming over for the rx-8 from japan? Such as mazdaspeed forced induction or other soon to be available accessories?
Welcome to the club, most people here are very polite.. so don't get frustrated too quickly. There is LOTS of good info here.

Aside from the douchebagginess of some comments in this thread, criticism seems quite warranted in this instance. I have a JDM MAZDASPEED kit with absolutely no fitment issues. You can see for yourself in the Trussville vendor thread. In addition, there were no installation problems.
Now, someone who claims to be "affiliated" with Mazda comes on the board and says "We wanted to ensure that the gaps were acceptable." and "what we try to do here in NA is locally source a supplier. . ." Sounds like someone pretty connected to the process, right?
Only now, we find out MS RX-8 is supposedly an IP attorney who lives in Ohio, does work for Mazda in Detroit, even though Mazda is HQ'd in Irivine. Since when are IP attorneys directly involved in sourcing suppliers? If this is some sort of NA MAZDASPEED prototype, where are the MAZDASPEED mirrors?
Hey, if its acceptable for people to come on these boards making untrue claims about JDM MAZDASPEED kit fitment while claiming to be affiliated with Mazda when their not, then let's all suspend reality and this board will quickly become useless.

Whether my kit is jpn-spec or NA-spec is irrelevant. If Trussville is selling NA spec kits, then what value are MS RX-8's engineers adding to the process? She didn't mention anything about the crash bumper when she described the modifications they were making. She apparently didn't even know that the kits were available through dealers.
My kit may be NA-spec, but it clearly originated in Japan due to the package markings and the instrux being in Japanese, so what the heck are engineers doing in Ohio?

"Lastly, the English instructions will also appear in the US spec."
My kit from Trussville came with English instructions -- therefore must be the NA (US) spec kit.
When I first read her post I thought they were only sourcing suppliers now which didn't make sense since I already have a US spec kit -- but upon re-reading it appears that she got that kit in Nov. -- one of the original kits -- so her post is making more sense.
Let's give her a break -- MS RX-8 -- thanks for posting and welcome to the forum! Please give us any additional info. that you are able.

gentlemen please, she drives an rx8, she's got a mazdaspeed kit, plus she's a lawyer. that in itself is enough to warrant some respect. as for your other claims, a picture of yourself posing with the rx8, (preferably in something skimpy and lacy) would greatly facilitate this verification process.
j/p.
welcome to the forum, i love your car, hope you decide to stick around even after this abuse. and if you truely do work with mazda, help a brother out by throwing a few prototype mazdakits my way. please include a picture of said parts and yourself in the package... i'll pay for shipping.

If you look closely at the pics she posted you will notice that the car is parked in front of a Mazda building -- and its NOT a dealership.
I think she is legit.

Yes, my kit came from Japan. I ordered it in January and every piece came with Japanese instrux.
Still, I ask the question: If there's a NA-spec kit, where's the NA-spec mirrors? I want the mirrors.
