Silver MAZDASPEED Bodykit Installed

I recently ordered the MAZDASPEED kit from Trussville and had it installed at my local dealership in Manhattan. I promised Brian that I would highly recommend his excellent service. The parts came exactly as planned on the day they promised. Here's some photos. Sorry they're a little washed out.

By the way, anyone in NYC looking to by an RX-8 would be smart to check with Frank Nodarse at Manhattan Mazda. I can't recommend his no-pressure service highly enough.

kgunny, that looks great.
I know it's cold out. But when the opportunity arrives, would you please check the ground clearnace of the front bumper cover? Also, please state whether your 8 is lowered. If so, by how much is it lowered. Many thanks.

front mouth pic

Kgunny,

could you post a pic of the front bumper mouth? I wanted to see If the dealer used a upgraded plate cover to hide the reinforcement brace and the white foam behind the bumper.

Thanks,
Allan

I think the whole kit is about 1/2 in lower that stock in the front and sides.

I did a real quick measurement as I was pulling into my garage tonight. I'm getting about 5 1/2" to 5 3/4" clearance in both the front and the side with stock rims and stock suspension. However, upon pulling out of a deep graded parking lot tonight, my front bumper did scrape against the pavement. No damage to any exposed areas, but I'm sure underneath looks like hell. After that experience, I wouldn't even consider lowering the car with this kit. Anhow, I'm pretty happy with it as it is. The only thing I'd like to add is the MAZDASPEED mirrors if and when they come out for LHD.

If you look closely at the front shot of my car, you'll see that the MAZDASPEED front nose comes with black plastic piece that runs across the top half of the middle grill. My license plate is actually hanging from that piece.

Japan Parts website http://www.japanparts.com/Pic/pic91/12-1.JPG has the nose clearance listed at 131mm (5.15"). Maybe that's right. I'll measure again sometime. I think the real problem is that the nose extends further out from the front axle, so it takes time to get used to, especially when parking in front of snow banks.

looks awesome, I have a pic of the blue taken on the HW on my computer. Came from this forum. Love it!!!! Might do mine in parts, bumper, side skirts, then diffusor. Gonna stay with the stock spoiler. When I called Trussville the guy talked about you ordering the kit. He said you were excited. I would be too.
By the way, does the bumper have any grill that comes with it? Hard to tell in the pics. Thanks

Here's a blow-up of the front nose. Depending on your screen resolution/contrast, you can see that the MAZDASPEED kit comes with a screen across the three intake holes and a plastic piece across the top of the center intake hole.

Note: I bought the fog light brackets but decided not to have holes cut in the screen as per the installation instructions.

did you have stock foglights? Or did you put them on after you purchased the car? I mean because i want to get the MSfront bumper, but I dont know if the foglight will get in the way. Did you have to remount it? Thanks.

Foglights were the stock foglights from the car. I purchased the MS brackets to have them installed on the MS nose. I will say that total installation time for the kit was approx. 8 hrs. and I wouldn't be suprised if 2 of them were for installing the foglights. It adds a major expense to the install, so make sure you want them.

It is a shame that you must wear a front plate.
