Yup, and the Kinomoto I was thinking of is Sakura Kinomoto, star character of an anime called Cardcaptor Sakura... oddly enough her mom had a flower-name too, she was Nadeshiko.

Can't help it, I'm addicted to anime, and thought Sakura was a beautiful name for the 8.

Okkay, back on topic.. where can I get that full vid? I tried the link a couple of posts back, but it wants me to register, to which I say "Why bother?"

 

I just PM'd Nemesis with FTP info to my website, so hopefully he gets the video up there soon. It's actually the website of the company I work for so I can only keep it up there for a week or so depending on the bandwidth usage, but at least it'll give us a chance to grab the vid.

I love the first drive from a dead-stop... pilot fires up the car, takes off... these two other gents keep talking... the sound of the car goes away (to the right), and then a little later, perhaps 20 seconds later, you hear that wankelbeast faintly.. then not so faint.. then it grows into a wail that would make Enzo himself shudder in fear, then the orange/green blur passes the 'talkers' at what had to be warp six... love that sound!

 

It reminded me of when I was at a local track last spring watching practice and qualifying for Chicago Region SCCA club racing. There was what I think was a Star Mazda with full bodywork. The track is small and from one corner you could audibly follow the car around the entire track counting downshifts and the corners as he went around. It was lovely. I am not ahamed to admit that there were tears in my eyes. To me, the song of a racing rotary rivals that of the flat-12 Porsches from the late sixties, early seventies. Think Numbers 20, 21, and 22 in Le Mans.

it says stuff like, 10 years of development. they were quite upset when it got banned from lemans after it's win in 91. the old guy seen is one of the developers.

wow - nothing beats the sound of that redline!!! lol - it's sounds like the engine should blow reving that high, but instead, it continues to smoothly accelerate into those unforgetable rpm ranges!!! i love it!!!
