I believe the highest percentage of airflow to the radiator actually goes from the gap underneath. The front spoiler at the bottom of the bumper acts very efficiently by pushing the mass of air that flows through upwards and accelerates it straight into the radiator.
I ran the car whole summer at temperatures of 109°F(43°C)++ and I had no problems..

If you look at the plastic grill, only about a quarter of it is open to let air in, most of it is just solid plastic.
If the car relied of that plastic front grill at all for cooling, we'd all be not be driving these cars.
