I think the new blue looks really good actually. I always wished I had either got winning blue, or white, but that new blue actually looks the best to me now.

Are the clear corners stock on 06's?

 

And what are those square notches under the headlights? I don't think I've seen those before.

 

Headlight washers. We dont get that in the US.

that is an Australian spec RX-8, which comes stock with clear corners, as well as the headlight washers (those little squares actually flips up and a little nozzle comes out and cleans the headlight with window washer fluid)

Are you sure that is Phantom Blue??? It's not reflecting any green metallic in it like four different Phantom Blue Mazda 5's I have seen in person. It doesn't even look to have any green where the light is brightly reflecting on it. The Phantom Blue 5's I have seen were outside in the sun and there was very obvious green all over the top of the blue. Could it be Strato Blue color which is a darker blue color than winning blue??? I just checked the Australia website for Phantom Blue and the care definitely looks more green, a teal kind of a color, as the 5's do in person. Is it possible for you to check the window sticker for us???

(Don't mean to be a pain. Just want to make sure since it doesn't look like any Phantom Blue I have seen in sunlight).

 

The picture you took showing your blue and the other blue looks even more Strato Blue-like.

it's definitely phantom blue, the extra blue you see bunnygirl, is the reflection of the BLUE sky that these pics were taken under... you can easily see the green in the fourth pic, where the sunlight reflects off of the front wheel fender...

 

You're probably right bunnygirl, this is probably the Strato Blue (which I really like) and not the Phantom Blue which looks gay. Australia does sell the Strato Blue RX-8's so this was probably a left over 2005 model not an 06 Phantom Blue!!

 

US RX-8's will always have amber corners to satisfy DMV regulations for all states

as for painted calipers, i'm guessing it'll show up in the US for '06 as well

 

Nice and sunny though in Australia right now, since it is summer there.

 

the strato blue is A LOT darker, and more purple, than the phantom blue 8 in the pic...

 

I've only seen an indoor strato blue away from the sun so I don't know what coloring it reflects back but I really like strato. I wasn't as crazy about the phantom on the 5's. I'm guessing it probably reflects the green really well from the curves over the wheels and the identation in the hood.

 

Maybe he'll check the sticker for us.
