My coolant is mostly distilled water. Takes me 5 minutes to swap. Oil I'll do in 500 miles.

For once, I'm dying for the current tank of gas to go quickly, and instead, this is what I get:

What the hell... you got 97 miles out of a quarter tank? That must be world record...

it's actually 87 miles, and that is with mostly city driving. 20 miles of that was on the highway at around 85 mph.

I cheated a little tonight, I went into boost (boost controller off) for a few seconds. Hit 6 psi. It felt good.

Yeah, you must be really cheating 'cause I don't know how can you get even 87 miles off a quarter tank, especially with mostly city driving. Hm... interesting.

I promise you, no cheating.

Since I have no cat, the AccessPort with Jeff's maps removed the "cat saving" feature of the pcm that dumps fuel to cool it down during light throttle. What I don't know is if the new housing/seals are helping me too or not. I rarely ever baby the car when driving, so it's hard to determine.

If I really wanted economy, I'd drive it with less throttle from stop lights. Right now I'm mostly just avoiding boost.

Ah, that makes sense. Cool.
Makes me want to replace the cat with a high-flow one that handles heat better, so the same change could be made. Wonder if such a cat even exists.
But then I wouldn't pass smog here

you can pass smog with a high flow cat that will take the temps.... look for TeamRX8's old cat info.... VERY pricey though... VERY

your stock cat can handle it. It just might not last to 100k miles

Sorry for the minor threadjack..

but realistically what is the CAT life expectancy when you factor in Jeff's maps that remove the CAT preservation?

Probably less than 120k and more than one afternoon.

nice to see the work performed by Charles. This really gets me feeling comfortable being he is going to do the MM/BHR install for me upon purchasing. I have heard the stories of quality/great work, but to see it is a whole different story. precision, care and accuracy went into the whole project.

The first post details duration, and a turbo kit has nothing to do with a rebuild.

The rebuild is a lot more involved than a turbo kit install... so yeah, this should make you feel comfortable

The turbo install is nothing more than messing with the exhaust manifold, and connecting some pipes in a very small cramped area. There's more to it, but that's what it boils down to.

With the AccessPort solving our fuel management issues, everyone should go turbo. There's no reason not to.

You didn't replace it with the HYMEE Super Charger?

So............. over heating caused the housing crack?

Yeah, running the rx-7 plugs in leading. Right now I'm using OEM trailing plugs in trailing position because I couldn't find any 2mm shims.

I have never overheated.

I'm keeping the front iron issue on the down low for the time being.
