Congrats on the new car. Man, how long have you been dealing with the dealer? He must know your birthday, you uncle's dog's name, your favorite doughnut, etc by now. Heh heh, he probably got tired of seeing you, eh?

holy hell!! how did you get a 2005 6 MT for less than 350/month??? I'm guessing your down payment had to be huuuuuuge!!! Please lemme know, cause i'm like you were before you had it... wishing i could drive it and stare at it all day... i'm hoping to get one this time next year but it's a very long shot right now... being realistic would mean waiting until mid-2006...
oh and congrats! I'd get a black one too but it's too high-maintenance... shows how much dedication i have for the car i "want so bad"... lol

Well well, look who finally has an 8 of his own to worship. I've been on the sidelines in the shadows quietly rooting for you and I am glad to see that you stuck around, gave it one last last try, and got it. All the trials and tribulations you endured in your search will only make your victory that much more sweet. I am giddy all over again, just like when I first pulled my 8 into the garage to show my wife and kids. CONGRATULATIONS!

We can hardly believe it either. You've been the most labour intensive newbie we've ever had to deal with . Now the rest of us can unwind, relax and have a beer or two.....Hahahahahaha

Yeah, I’m so glad it’s finally over and it’s parked in my garage. To think, I almost gave up on the RX8. Sorry guys, I think my search for the car even affected you guys/gals…LOL
Yes, my wife can use the net now. She really likes the car and only complaint is the bump in the foot well of the passenger side of the car. Did the 2004’s have this? I don’t remember seeing it?
Thanks!

OK, more details on my deal:
$21,500 (loan check from my wife's credit union)
$3,000 (down payment from my pocket)
1994 Ford Probe GT V6 5spd w/sunroof, power everything/cruise control/cloth seats 147,000 miles
I"m paying "UNDER" $350 per month and I got the car in the end of the month so it helped my deal out. I did not use S-Plan but used it to negotiate.
They told me they gave me $4,900 for my trade in but there is NO WAY that car was worth that. So, the deal looked to them like this:
21,500
3,000
4,900
$29,400 w/TTT
BUT, the money out of my pocket was $24,500 plus my trade in which is not worth in NO WAY $4,900. So, to me...I got the car for $25,000 out the door. I hope this clears this up and I did not mislead anyone. My car trade in is worth according to Edmunds $500 (my car had some rust on the sunroof, stained seats, and paint falling off on some spots) so to me I spent only $25,000 w/TTT for the car minus $3,500 with the down payment and trade leaving me to finance $21,500 (which is the amount I requested from the credit union)
Now, are they going to get a tax break or something from my trade to make the deal better to them? Maybe...but as far as my money...I spent $25,000.
I suggest to EVERYONE, like I was told on this website, GET YOUR LOAN FIRST to the payment you want...then go nogotiate. Tell them, I have this:
Loan amount check
Down payment
Trade in (if possible)
That's all you have, period. Now, I did not say that...I actually told them I had only $21,000 knowing they would want me to be flexable with their offers.
DEAL DONE...and I"M ONE HAPPY GUY!!!!

As everyone else has said, congratulations. Here's a bit of unsolicited advice. Strain your budget to put another $100 per month away in a separate savings/money market/CD account. After four to five years, take the money you've saved and pay off your loan.
Six years is a long time. You'll be amazed how much better you feel if you really own your car in four to five years. And if you can actually do this, you'll be amazed how your self-esteem benefits from your fiscal discipline.
Good luck, friend.

that's great to hear, congrats. See? and you were ready to give up last time. I'm very happy for you just as everyone else here I'm sure.
Yes, you definitely need to change your screen name. I can't think of one right now, I'm going on 16 hours of work with 4 hours of sleep in between but I'll get back to ya once my mice start turning their wheels in my head...maybe I need to feed them some cheese or something...
I bet the initial break-in period can't come soon enough, I know I couldn't wait for mine.
Have fun!!!! :D :D

I use the clip that goes on the back of cell phones and clip it into the sunroof area(theres a little groove that works perfectly with the visor still closing)... stays really well, doesnt get in the way, easy to hear when the music is on because its to close to your head, etc... try it out.
Congrats on your purchase.

Congrats man! I bought mine at the same deal you did with yours ($340/month). The difference between us is that I really wanted a base model, so I don't have to turn off DSC and TCS every time I drive like most members here.
Enjoy your RX-8! If you dreamt about having one for a long time, actually having one now doesn't stop there. The love keeps growing. I'm always excited about my next drive everytime I step out of the 8. It's like an addiction now :D

At the risk of sounding blasphemous...
As a fellow believer, all I can say is, "And a light shone down from on high, upon the rotary... and He looked and saw that it was good..."
(chorus of cherubim and seraphim...)
(on another odd note, I can't get the link open on how to open the gas tank, yet I feel that somehow, I may be the victim of a practical joke by my fellow boarders here on the forum. says something about I don't have access privileges or something or that a mod may have restricted me or something... anyhoo, congrats rx8wannahave, we shall be attending the christening of you for your new name, "rx8alreadyhave")
:D :D :D

COOL! I'm glad you persevered; I thought we lost you for awhile.
If I can't drive, I find something to do on the car so I can at least sit in it awhile (always something to clean or reread the manual).
Get those clears ASAP. Black is begging for it!
