^for some reason i was always under the impression that RHD rx8's would have the Ebrake located on the passenger side like it is w/the LHD

Apparently not lol! As Japan is RHD by default, I would counter by saying the the 'e-brake' is actually on the wrong side for LHD markets like the US as you guys have got to reach over further to pull it.

I've noticed it's quite common for cars built for in one market not to bother switching items like this for other markets, i'm just glad that the Japanese drive on the correct side of the road......

Not at all, as the E-Brake is right next to your thigh, your hand and arm are naturaly over the other side of it anyway, unless you want to try driving with it in the on possition!
