benben01, if you do not mind me asking, what happened that led to the crash? I feel really sad about that picture. Especially after seeing how beautiful your R3 was! RX-8 is one of those cars where I cannot decide which colour is my favourite, because all colours look amazing! Your new RX-8 looks amazing too! I am in the process of working out a possibility of purchasing a 2009 R3! I hope nothing bad like that will happen to me! I also hope the car will not get vandalized!!! I am really nervous at the thought of that!!

The crash was nothing more than driver's error on my part. It was tired after a long day of work and staring at the monitor. I had the music up and didn't hear my tires break until it was too late and bounced of a guard in a sharp corner which I have taken many times and crashed into a ditch after that. Had I been more focused and not so tired, I would have been more cautious and taken that corner at a better angle.
BobsRX8GT, your car looks amazing!! I am very curious how that compound will look like on a White?!! R3 looks amazing in all colours!

I wanted another R3 but finding one with low milage was a challenge without having to go out of state. The GT I bought was really clean and it only had 9,000 miles on it. Mechanically the GT and R3 are identical with the GT have more luxury features which is as plus. Here in the states, R3s come in only 3 colors - red, blue or black. I figured the money I saved on the GT would give me plenty of room to make a unique but factory looking RX8.

Ohh! Now I am wondering...the R3 that I am thinking of purchasing has 47,000km on it...I hope that is not too high! It isn't high, comparing with a lot of the RX8s here in Toronto, Canada. I have found even less ones, but they are demo cars from a Mazda dealership, but costs an arm and a leg!!
I do like your plan! It sure will make your "R3" more special, because it will have all those luxury features like moonroof! Are your seats heated as well? That would be really awesome!

Good luck with your search. The seats are not heated unfortunately since the R3 Recaros do no have the feature. Otherwise, I really like the GT interior wise compared to the R3.
Bob - Love how the clean and wet the black paint looks on your R3!

Thanks. NAVIwax comes in light or dark and looks great on all colours. Light has less filling ability than dark to mask swirls etc. cheap and can be layered to intensify the effect. Get some and try it, you won't be disappointed. Japanese make some of the best waxes around.

Sorry for the late reply. NAVIwax light is layerable also, really the only difference is Navi dark will make the colours look darker and has slightly more filling ability for swirls and spider webbing. That said I have used NAVI dark on a white car with awesome results. Another bonus is that for a wax, the life is pretty good with 6 weeks of protection and dirt repellancy, apply it on a damp car panel by panel (Dont let it sit too long before buffing off). This means that after a wash you can sheet the water off the car and instead of drying the car, just apply the wax to the damp panels.
I havent used permanon however I use CQuartz on my other Mazda and it lasts about 18-24 months. Super easy to apply and easier to maintain.

It is a combination of the car no longer being available, reliability issues that are not fixable, and lack of continued aftermarket development. It is not an easy platform to mod due to cost and complexity. Not to mention the early gen cars are really inexpensive and people are doing really lame mods. When they do not get their desired results they bad mouth the car.
