thanks for the compliments. Yep that was a no cones sticker. Unfortunately, they didn't work as I had cone carnage on 5 out of 6 runs. One run I killed 3 cones :D

 

Nice pics. Are you running the stock suspension set-up on the car? There doesn't appear to be too much body roll in the tight turns...

It was with the Windy City BMW club and it was held at Maywood Park in Melrose IL. It's just east and south of O'hare.

I also ran there yesterday with the Audi Car Club Chicago Chapter. Yesterday was really fun and the course was much better suited to the RX-8.

I spin twice :D .


Audi and BMW clubs are fun to run with because they have fewer cars than SCCA so you get more runs in and you don't have to start so early in the morning and wait all day to finish. They usually have fun runs at the end. Audi club also let's you run with passengers and still compete so you can take some of your fans along for a ride.

Next windy city event is at the Tire rack in South Bend. It's a two day event called the Tirerack Yokohama challenge. I probably won't attend.

Next month is my second DE as I'm taking the 8 to Gingerman with the BMW club.

I did pretty good. I had a side competition going with 8 other guys there from a European club that I'm in. I finished 3rd out of 9 after applying RTP modifiers.

I beat tons of the Audis there but did not trophy in the class that I was in which was all non-Audi's (31 cars in the class). I think in the non-audi class I was middle of the pack which isn't too bad since there were some heavily modified cars there.

If they want to give me grief about autocrossing my car then I'll be happy to go back to driving BMWs because they are quite happy to sell me a new car and are cool with this stuff.

The RX8 is a good car but it is replaceable...
