I'm not sure why but I just got from my dealer/parts dept. in Gainesville, GA a price of $46.70 and that is cut! They asked me if I was referring to the standard key or the retractable one and I said "retractable". Not sure why there is such a price difference!

That price is suspect--I'd bet that the price mythically changes when you go to the dealership to buy it.

I called back and spoke to a different guy, I was told $59.30. Just to make sure I don't get a swappidy-do-da, I asked what the price on the standard version was and he said around $30. How about someone else calling their Mazda authorized parts dealer to see what they come up with?

If anyone is interested in my dealer, PM me and I will give you the dealers name and phone number.

Call and find out about an 04 key and remote, the key is around 40 bucks and the remote is another 110, might as well get the cooler 05 key and remote

Now what could be the case is that the retractable key is actually two separate parts: The key and its retractable mechanism make up the top portion and the transmitter is the lower portion--they snap securely together to form the key fob in its omniponent glory :p Make sure they aren't just giving you the price for one piece of it. My dealer charged $10 to cut the key and then wanted to charge $85 to program it.
