Tsukuba shoot out.

Haven't seen it posted, but it's pretty old, so maybe it has been.

man, it only ran 1:11 at tsukuba. that sucks. Just like gansan said, "The RX-8 is a great street car but the racing car is not yet up to par. It's too heavy to compete, it needs more engine power and the gear ratios need to be set up right. Then and only then will the RX-8's full potential be realized."

Isn't that basically sayng the car's crap? I mean, he's saying the car's too heavy, lacks power and poor gearing, the only thing that he didn't **** on is the handling. That's like saying to a woman, "you'd make a great girlfriend but not a wife, you're overweight, looks ugly, and have huge feet, but your ***** are nice..."

I guess they need to talk to SpeedSource who could set them up a proper race preped RX-8, huh?

GrandAM, or atleast the 8's class, is a pretty close to stock series, IIRC. Pretty slow too. 5 seconds off the pace of SWC at many tracks. Though I don't know how the Hoosiers they run compare to the Toyo RA-1's SWC runs. It would still suffer from lack of power. I don't know the weight of the SS guys, nor about the gearing, but it wouldn't suprise me if it was still around 2500-2600 lbs.

I looked up the weight, 2700 lbs. So, maybe they sorted the gearing, but it's still heavy and underpowerd.

It depends on a lot of things, it's not so easy thast you just tack a set amount of time on for a wet track.

oh definetly. track prepped 86 corollas are rounding tsukuba at the 1'02- 1'00 mark and only making about 240ps, but then again they only weigh like 2200 lbs. I just don't see the rx8 running tsukuba any where near the 1'05 mark atleast for another couple years..hahha =(

Its all about how a car match a track, the NSX did well against the lambo on the motegi consider its half as powerful.
