Tsukuba shoot out.
Haven't seen it posted, but it's pretty old, so maybe it has been.

interesting read. First time i've seen that article. 2660 curb weight is not bad at all :)
good read!

man, it only ran 1:11 at tsukuba. that sucks. Just like gansan said, "The RX-8 is a great street car but the racing car is not yet up to par. It's too heavy to compete, it needs more engine power and the gear ratios need to be set up right. Then and only then will the RX-8's full potential be realized."

GrandAM, or atleast the 8's class, is a pretty close to stock series, IIRC. Pretty slow too. 5 seconds off the pace of SWC at many tracks. Though I don't know how the Hoosiers they run compare to the Toyo RA-1's SWC runs. It would still suffer from lack of power. I don't know the weight of the SS guys, nor about the gearing, but it wouldn't suprise me if it was still around 2500-2600 lbs.
I looked up the weight, 2700 lbs. So, maybe they sorted the gearing, but it's still heavy and underpowerd. |
yeah gearing is 5.1 from what i've read.
anyone know what a stock rx8 runs at tsukuba? On GT4 i ran tsukuba in 55 seconds..hahaha
i think 1'10-1'11
so if it ran 1'11 in water, on dry surface it could have done a 1-2 seconds faster?...
a stock rx8 ran the tsukuba in that time during its match against the g35/s2000 in the rotary reborn video.
i heard same car, same track, same tires are 5 secs faster in the dry than the wet...
wow 5 seconds is a huge difference...i guess it really depends on the driver...NOB Tanaguchi!

Whatever, The RX8 is underpowered period to really compete.

Its all about how a car match a track, the NSX did well against the lambo on the motegi consider its half as powerful.
The NSX-R running R-compound tires against the white Murci in that best motoring video?
I think it was the supercar shootout.. but the nsx did better at the turns..
yeah, you'll do that wearing r-tires.
