I have a bad feeling that if the Spirit R does come here to the US, once I get my S1 paid off, I'll end up buying a Spirit R as well, haha.

People can make replicas.

But in all honesty, it really wouldn't surprise me. Am I doubtful? Yeah, but I could also see it SOMEHOW happening.

I mean, this is Mazda here, they care more about the rotary than other manufacturers and their cookie cutter cars. Similar with Chevy and their Corvette.

My point is, that even though they say it, I wouldn't put it past them to make something happen one way or another. I mean, I can't remember the source, but I did read somewhere that the Rx8 was to be stopping production everywhere with the 2011 model, before the Spirit R was introduced. Obviously that's not a very truthful statement now, but well, you get my point.

Actually, it was because MNAO announced the end of importing the 8 into North America that was all, the 'on-line media' took it at finishing production, MMC announced nothing of the sort until recently ( june 2012)...It IS still available in many other regions.

Just got this email from Mazda Aust boss..

A number of smaller distributors around the Pacific take ADR spec. We think this one is going to NZ. Its definitely not one of ours.

So it looks like Aust won't be getting them..
