Just seeing words like this so close to the RX-8 hurts my sensibilities :

I see some of these and other even uglier here abouts in large quantities all the time (F150?!). Uggggggggly! And strangly, very few RX-8s :D (feel better now)....

Go figure here's their rating of the 8, just as bizarre... wonder how they get their sample pop ... and I thought these were the peps who OWNED the car, for heaven's sake!

 

I don't believe that for a second. People tell me constantly that they love my car. Maybe they did thier at a senior citizens home, in which case the 1988 Cadilliac DeVillie took the award for the best looking looking vehicle.

 

Also, you have to wonder how they did their polling. Were the testers given a pic of each car or did they have to recall it from just the name? If they were given a pic, the pics could have been poor for the 8 and thus biased. If it was from memory, they could have been confusing the car with God knows what. Also, the Celica made that list which is another car that I'd say most people find attractive. I think it's BS.

 

Its the converse of the "i bought this just for the looks" statement, its "i bought this because of everything else and not just the looks" i.e. mainly the engine no doubt - its been taken out of context and as with all statistics a load of b***ks

 

The fact that the VW Beetle and Crossfire made the top ten most attractive makes me care all the less about their polling.

I've never had someone tell me that they don't like my car...well my friend did once, because i said he can't drive it.

 

a few weeks ago, i had the garage door open while i was cutting the grass. after i finished cutting the grass i was standing at the bottom of the driveway talking to a neighbor when a kid rides by on his bike and looks up the driveway and says out loud "WHOA! An RX-8!" and cranes his head back as he rides by and almost runs into a mailbox :D

trust the opinions of children. they can be brutally honest without realizing it. if it was an ugly car, they'd let you know. i've yet to find a kid that doesn't like the rx8.

 

It didn't say they were the most attractive, only that those were the cars whose buyers chose predominantly on the appearance. It could just as well mean that those cars had little else going for them, the buyers were unknowledgeable, etc. For a car such as the RX-8, I'd suspect a large number of buyers were interested in the rotary engine, handling, etc. So even though the appearance is good, purchasers have other reasons besides.

Oh no, my RX8 is ugly and slow. I'm going to trade it in.

I also heard the fuel tank will explode and the front wheels are held on with duct tape.

 

I went to a coffee house in a ritzy part of town this weekend and when me and my 2 2x year old friends got out of the car a lady sitting in front of the coffee shop asked "what kind of car is that?"
The guy she was with said "oh...it says RX-8".
She said, "Is that a very expensive car?"
He said, "I think so."
I just hit the alarm button to honk the horn and smiled as I walked inside.

5 of the top 6 are 'American Classic' copies. If you really want those kind of looks..buy a classic, it's probably more reliable anyways. :D

 

10 "best" looking cars: (and, apparently, they use that term loosely)

1. Chevrolet SSR - (You're kidding, right?)
2. Chrysler Crossfire - (Huh? Wrong list, guys.)
3. Dodge Magnum - (Haven't had anyone tell me they're good-looking, not too terrible, though)
4. Chrysler PT Cruiser - (I know more people that make fun of these cars than ANY other car, including the Aztek.)
5. Mini Cooper - (Okay, not "best looking". but okay)
6. Chrysler 300 - (Looks like Soviet Russia. Barf.)
7. Volkswagen Beetle - (...)
8. Ford Thunderbird - (HOLY CHRIST!)
9. Mitsubishi Eclipse - (if the new one, then ugly)
10. Cadillac XLR - (Verified)

Aside from the XLR, this list makes me lose just a little bit more faith in humanity.


Half the cars on the ugly list are cars I'd park in my driveway, too! There's ONE from the "best" looking list!

Funny how they list Dodge Magnum as one of the most appealing. I think it looks very much like a Herse. Wouldn't be caught dead in a Magnum and only plan to be in a Herse when I am dead.

 

i had a friend tell me about her first experience seeing an SSR in real life. it involved extreme amounts of laughter, a little bit of crying, and sore cheeks. not exactly the kind of reaction one would expect from the "best" looking car

 

Perhaps the demographic is some weird slice of the population. Any thoughts on this ???

yeah wtf? it seems to me that they picked some random cars and labeled them most appealing. and then they picked some random cars and labeled them ugly. like seriously... wtf? we all know the rx-8 looks good to more people than it looks ugly to, but you can say maybe they just got a bad sample group. some people do think the rx-8 looks a bit too extreme for their tastes. but let's say something like the lexus ls430. that's on the list of ugliest cars?

c'mon... that car is bland and safe when you're talking about design. there's nothing there that's eye catching, there's nothing there that's offensive. how can a car like that make the list for ugliest cars? the same goes for the q45. bland and safe. boring looking cars they could easily win. UGLY cars? please. i have no idea who they polled but their poll sucks.

 

Hey now, I happen to like the 300, and I agree about the AZTEK, that and the Avalanche are the ugliest cars I ahve ever seen, ever! GM needs to take their designers out and beat them mercilessly

 

Wow, I had no idea my car was ugly. I've gotta stop listening to everyone I work with, my neighbors, and my entire family. Sucks, but hey, at least I'll know the truth. ;-)
