RE Amemiya Turbo RX-8 in Modified Magazine!

With stock internals: 256whp 325 wtq

In the article it says the turbo boosts 14.5 to 17 psi... I think this is wrong. They're using RE Amemiya Trust Emanage as a fuel computer :D

Next step is reinforced internals and higher boost!

that's odd..in a way. I used a small turbo on my KLD 2.5L V6; 8psi made 245whp/260ft-lbs - but I started with only 155 at the front wheels. Twice the boost + much more HP to start with? perhaps the hp/tq numbers are reversed.

Well I suppose they felt sorry for the power deficiency in the auto so they saw the need to address it first.....

I usually keep my opinion on most body kits to myself. --- to each his own.

But that is just wrong - wrong - wrong

Please protect the rest of us and keep any further pictures of that to yourself.

Funny thing is.. in a discussion with Amemiya-san, it was admitted that this kits was designed/fabb'd in deference to the love by americans for automatic trannys. When I explained that this was true for family, mid, and large size sedans, they were puzzled. I said yes americans prefer autos, but not in their sport cars, or sports coupes... they kind of looked at me in amazement, with that... oh well we kind-of blew this one look! This was just my take on their reaction...

with all this said, it's a very nice kit.

Yea not bad for a AT. I mean the Greddy set up is doing 60+HP on a stock MT=300+HP. So this is a good start for all RX-8 owners.

what kind of times should this A/T application return? My guess is low-mid 14s 1/4mi times and 0-60 times on par with G35 Coupe, i.e. high 5 seconds low 6 seconds?

Dre the 350z/g35 coupe makes about 230 - 240 whp so yeah man-- an automatic Rx8 making 256whp should be a little faster than those two cars since they all have a similar weight. (But takeinto account that youre spending $5000+ on the turbo upgrade while those two cars already come w/that horsepower stock and cost around the same asan Rx8.)

That turbo automatic could probably pull a low 5 second 0-60 and low 14 on the quarter. Definitely a huge improvement over the Honda Civic-like times our automatics make right now. Honestly -- its stillwont be keeping up w/the bad boys in straight lines (M3s Lancer Evos WRX STIs Trans Ams Z28s etc) but at leastnow youll have respectable performance. On the otherhand I think the turbocharged 6speed manual Rx8s are goingto be wicked.
