Sure, I'd like to see a FI Mazdaspeed 8
Honestly, I'd rather see a 1L 3-rotor to keep things NA and avoid the possible reliability hit's that happen with FI.

Now that we have the Interceptor, I think the turbo idea has gained more reliability and power but personally I'd still like to keep my engine NA.

Like stated above, the 8 (while a great car already and plenty fast enough for normal everyday driving) would sell more if it had another 40-50HP. The car already looks sexy, but with another 50HP it has the chance of becoming a legend.

Dare I say that...sure...it's a usable 2+2 with killer looks, good quality, usable trunk, and a balance between ride and handling. Give it another 50HP and it will sell alot more.

The question is, what keeps the 8 from selling more? Fuel economy, a bit of torque, and some HP…in my opinion. If we had a 1L 3-Rotor with higher gearing or at least a higher six gear we could probably get 300HP easy, significantly more torque, and maybe 2mpg or so.

It’s a shame…that Mazda handicaps (or maybe I should say Ford…???) such a great car!

The only thing holding back NA power in our car is the cat, as running it super lean up top would cook the cat in short order.

I don't know if they can design a cat that can withstand those temps for the 120,000mi it has to last.

A slightly larger center housing with larger side exhaust ports might also give up somemore power as well.

All in, I doubt NA mazda could get more than 30WHP more, regardless of whether or not they could get around the cat issue.

I nice hybrid electric option might be interesting though, power off the line would certainly make the car feel faster and improve the 0-60 times.

I think there's some confusion here, this isn't a car that would be marketed as a "Mazdaspeed RX-8" in the US, it's just a car fitted with some aftermarket parts that Mazda sells in Japan.

Kind of annoying how they use the Mazdaspeed name for two totally different things. They need to have two different brands: one for factory tuner cars, and one for aftermarket accessories, and keep those brands consistent worldwide.

Looks = fantastic. I like the subtle wing on the blue one much better than the current MSP wing. Good choice of wheels. Looks like mazda won't go F/I, PTP it is.

sorry to be honest this is a pathetic offering by Mazda...ripping off designs from other companies and worse not having it look that great I like the current MS kit MUCH better!

as for this Shinka WHAT THE HECK IS THIS, I think we may have a GMC van body kit on our hands!? This is total trash mazda...geez

Agree, I don't know but I'm not really digging the shinka kit. The Blue Mazdaspeed looks real nice, but I think Mazda should've done something with power. The car looks good as it does currently, it should at least get backed up with more power.

The first one reminded me of an NSX for some reason. The second one is an exact Corvette front bumper. The third one is ummm a regular RX-8. I can see Mazda designers spent a lot of time coming up with these new designs. I think they are trying to capture the RX-8 owners who want to be other 'more exotic' sport cars.

I stand in awe at the stupendous power wielded by Mazda's Sales Prevention Team. They get Mazda to waste money designing new (lame) body kits while the car's lack-o-power is ignored.

At the rate they're going, I doubt there will be a 2008 RX-8.

You guys, it could be possible that with the current design of the renisis this is all the power they can get out of it without FI. If you want a fast car just sell your rx8 and buy a mustang. Sheesh.

BTW- yes i wouldn't mind another 50hp, but i'm not going to cry about it and claim it's mazda's number 1 issue.

Any guesses if that's purely cosmetic or functional??
It's not just the Le Mans like top vents, the whole front fenders are different.
See how the they flow across the top of the side vents, rather than continuing in a downward arch around the front wheel like the stock fenders.

I love the look of this car. Hopefully, Mazda USA will finally give us our version that looks something like this, but with a major HP boost.
The Mazdaspeed RX-8 I & II A-specs in Japan were for JDM only and were never exported to the US.

I really like the look of these "concepts" but I'm afraid thats all they are.. if these were official from mazda why do they differ as much as they do between pics? .. I think the blue one is a clever photoshop of a c6, and I dunno about the other but jeebus!!

Yeah I know, I think another 30HP is pretty much maxing out the Renesis...maybe 40 to push it. But…what do I know, if the Interceptor NA can find 25HP…surly Mazda can find 40……hmmmmm

If you want a fast car just sell your rx8 and buy a mustang. Sheesh.
It's not that the 8 is not fast, but there are too many "sadans" that are just as fast and enough that are faster than our 8 to leave a bitter taste in our mouth. I can't say enough how much I love my 8 but I wish it was more towards the lower 14's or high 13's than our mid 14's in the 1/4 mile.

I don't honestly care because I wont be racing people on the street, but the 8 is too good of a sports car to be held back by 30-50 HP or so. I think most of us would agree that another 50HP would bring even more smiles to the RX8 driving experience.

If Mazda could find at least another 40HP and maybe find 100 pounds to cut from the weight I think we all would be happy.

Remember, alot of us didn't get the Mustang or Z because we did not like their looks, and throw the WRX and EVO in there also. Looks, the rotary, and handling is what sells the 8 but by watching how Mazda pays attention to every other car in their lineup it makes you wonder if they care enough about this car for it to reach it's potential.

I know some 8 owners like how rare it is, but I prefer to see more on the road so Mazda makes more of a commitment then for them to ignore it and it going the way of the RX7.

I think we are jumping into conclusions too soong, the artycle says no turbo but it does not say no more hp, maybe its a ligtter version with a couple of hp more?

to be honest all the rx-8 needs is 200 lbs less and 25 to 30 rwhp more.

but I love to see a renesis 20b na 300hp rx-8

What ru guys talking about maxing out the renesis at 30 horses more? Have you seen the gains on the turboxs exhaust? And a recent thread states that RB has a header that will deliver 7-8 whp more. If the interceptor-X delivers even close to as promised, then we will definitely surpass the 30 whp mark with NA aftermarket parts. Lets wait and see what the interceptor dyno claims are tonight

I want to call a photoshop on them but who knows. The shinka looks like a photoshop to me. The front badge, rims and brakes especially and that kenstyle sticker on the windshield. I like the Blue one. Im kinda iffy on the front bumper but i like the rest. I like those fenders too.

kenstyle offers other kits for mazda vehicles as well as other makes. this kit for the 8 follows very closely on the theme for one of their Mazda3 kits
