yeah. You can totally see the ford influence in the interior, especially the steering wheel and radio. Wonder how much money they saved by using a mustang steering wheel...
It's sad to see the effects of ford running itself into the ground affecting the 8. |

The trunk is obviously the same, with the same crappy 3rd brake light, so if the taillight were a direct swap, the bottom edge would have to line up with the bottom of the trunk since our rear bumper is straight with no notch. I'd be willing to bet that they purposely did this to prevent swapping just the taillights which now have no rear facing reflectors (now above the exhaust). They simply wouldn't be legal on our car because there would be no reflector.

Good point...I also think it won't be long before aftermarket tail lights will be on the market, the same for the seats and any other modifications....

i was sort of hoping that people would comment on my earlier post https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...&postcount=132 where i point out that MikeLuvs8 showed us this engine bay 5 months ago... but the thread moves too fast. |

The fr mazdaspeed pics look great - although I could still do without the slats under the headlights, if we get that car in the us I could be trading up. However if purple is an available color over here, I might have to sell mine - PLEASE at least keep pink away!!!

Wow, lots of comments so quickly. Biggest problem I see is the front fender heat vents. There is a light covering it... smart.
|
keep in mind this is the rs.......i think the base will have diff rims, no side skirt or recaros etc.....

Are there any more of those interior pics out there Socr8tes...?
|
Seats and Tail lights are the only thing this car has over the current model and the tail light was a close call.
Typical bad Japanese update, just start tacking things on for the sake of change. You lose the original beauty and lines the current car has in favor of a busy mess. The still has overly small tail pipes and weak instrumentation. Steering wheel is awful and who wants to bet the most needed thing will be missing...more HP! The good thing is it make me happy I own the current model. |

nice! no more non-functioning oil pres. gauge

The first gen 8 looked better, seems like they sprinkled a little too much ricer on this face lift. Car is just too busy, I like the nice clean lines of mine better.

This isn't the version that's been homologated for our market yet if I'm not mistaking. I wonder if/what will be changed for us (besides the steering location).

I wonder how much weight all this gaudy crap, chrome and white leather adds to the car? Liberache, Rhinestones and Champaign anyone? The steering wheel and dounut must come from a parts bin...scary.
|
white leather weighs more?
