I'd bet that one of the red reflectors above the exhaust will double as a rear fog for Europe. And I for one am glad to see some of the rotary accents gone... 1 or 2 is plenty. 10 or more like the current 8 has is a little overkill.

See, I knew there was a reason why Mazda did not allow the MS version to be shown along with the other models.

Here's the original thread with all of the photos.

It's the Yokohama Advan for the Mazdaspeed version but I don't know for the RS, in France the RE050A replacing the RE040.

Going under the assumption that this is the "New" facelifted Rx-8 and not a Japan Salon model, its kinda 'eh.. so-so in my opinion. Just feels like a nicely done bodykit by say Kenstyle or another highend company.

Now after seeing the MS Facelifted Rx-8.. omfg.. I got a stiffy and had to take a cold shower. Dunno the front looks menancing and has a "Dont mess with me 'cause I'll eat your wife and children." the rims just look wicked pissa and has a slight C6 feel to them (could just be me I know). Now if this MS version was the actual deal I'm tell you the Rx-8 would be the car to own on pure looks alone.

But here's to waiting to see what we are actually going to get in terms of appearance. Still find it odd that these photo's leaked out since Mazda is generally tight lipped about info or that is what I'm lead to believe usualy via this site ;) lol.

See now I just don't get it. Why do you want mix matched tail lights? The design elements of the rear tails flows with the headlights.

Exactly but if you want change the oil you need to remove the cover engine. It's to control the jauge.

Interesting... lot of fans in France have the same opinion.

BigRed 01-10-2008 04:11 PM

crimson-rain 01-10-2008 04:15 PM

Interesting. I wonder what the new Mazdaspeed kit will look like now (considering the current MS kit doesn't fit).

BigRed 01-10-2008 04:15 PM

already thought of and posted :). look back a page

Aipex8 01-10-2008 04:18 PM

I hate to do this...

I know a lot of people like the new LED taillights, including myself, and hoped that a direct swap was an option. Upon closer inspection, the new taillights are NOT the same shape as the current ones, they are a little taller. Below are comparison pics. The red line shows how the bumper and how the new one has a notch cut for the longer taillight. The yellow line shows the distance from the key hole to the bottom of the taillight, which is longer on the new ones. If you like the new taillights, you'll have to do a whole rear end swap. Sorry!

Lol now it really looks like it has an overbite. I think it would probably look better if the grill just continued all the way up instead of that extra plastic piece that you made blue in this rendering.

Which it kinda looks like is what they did with the mazdaspeed to some extent.

enforcer 01-10-2008 04:23 PM

It wont take long for the aftermarket versions for our car to come out before too long.

As for the car I'm not overly thrilled either...the seats look great...but thats about it....

Why yes it is Bobby!

enforcer 01-10-2008 04:30 PM

I suspect there are going to be a lot more features on it than the visible eye can see....

The trunk is obviously the same, with the same crappy 3rd brake light, so if the taillight were a direct swap, the bottom edge would have to line up with the bottom of the trunk since our rear bumper is straight with no notch. I'd be willing to bet that they purposely did this to prevent swapping just the taillights which now have no rear facing reflectors (now above the exhaust). They simply wouldn't be legal on our car because there would be no reflector.

Renesis_8 01-10-2008 04:35 PM

the mazdaspeed version has a different struct bar.

not sure if you notice, but for the current model, the front headlights plays off the tailights with those twin strakes. The new sets look dull and unimaginative in comparison.
