DSport Magazine Car Review (56k Warning: Big Files)
we don't get defensive when it gets beaten, we get defensive when people make mistakes.
unless there is a Z involved... then we just get tired.
Hey Zoom. When you say new Engines, are you referring to 09+'s? Or Lower Mileage?

09+
and im not offended that it was bettered by other newer cars- i'm disgusted with the methodology and the bias in the writing. the "measured" stat isnt the dyno result- its a guess at the crank . its not measured so dont call it that.
Couldn't beat the price on a used, low mile RX8 and it's still a very fun car regardless.
The main issue I have with this is that the fwd and rwd were treated with the same loss percentage.
"a 15-percent assumed driveline loss. "MEASURED POWER" figures can be compared across the group to make real-world comparisons across different cars"
Well, our little "193.6 crank" rx8 beat the "246 crank" s2k. Interesting...
So this 09 dyno'd 168.34, a bit low! Damn, that s2k dyno'd 214, that's not bad...

And yes, that 8 is definitely looking a bit sick up top. Too late now that it's in print, but it looks as if it could use some new plugs and coils. It's a 2010, how many miles can it have? They are right, a shame to have such a great chassis and inability to make advertised power.

Yeah watching them do the quarter mile runs on the DVD is pretty sad. The Z was off by a second and he just brushed it off like it was a bad launch, haha. The Lancer Ralliart also dynoed way low and they eluded to an engine problem but kept testing it.
Thank you!
Thanks guys,
@ Darth, I notice that when i get above 7K RPMs, the power band isnt as smooth- I will def check the sparks.
@YAXMANGTO, the car at the time had 5k on it. I drive the car pretty hard into the revvs, keeping a close eye on the oil level. I'm well past the break in.
@ caranddriver, pics of my car are in the magazine. maybe ill upload some other pics. Love the new color!
As a side note, I had an Infiniti G35c before this car and I think the rx-8 is a funner car to drive. The g feels heavy and the 6 speed is garbage compared to the rx-8.

Just read some other posts on here and it was a 6speed but obviously had issues. the plugs could have been the culprit but, hard to say, the rotary gets better with time but, my 8 didnt get anywhere near that bad even new. Usually it is the connection to the plugs and/or the plugs themselves. I still have original coils and, I have 55k miles on mine. I am looking to replace them but, it still runs very strong. I just wanted to correct the math and, all of you know that the stock 8 should dyno in at 180+ whp and this was a fluke of the wrong car at the wrong place at the wrong time with issues that are not as common as people make them out to be with that few of miles on the car.
