CNET 2009 RX-8 R3 Review (Podcast w video to come)

Video will be available in a few days, but here's the podcast:

http://podcast-files.cnet.com/podcas...ECH_082908.mp3

The part about the RX-8 starts a little past half-way: "One of the hardest cars to love." Not as good as an M6 ... well, duh! No mp3 playback or auxilliary input in the R3? Acceleration not brutal or dramatic. The mileage kinda sucks. I heard these engines are also notorious for burning oil because of the way the engines are sealed ... probably a lot of unburnt fuel going through these things. No adjustable bolsters like on Mercedes Benz or BMW. Handling and suspension feels good. This car would NOT be a good autocrosser! Miata has a piston engine ... but no backseat.

Can download it here (but why bother): http://www.cnet.com/8301-17919_1-100...ag=mncol;title

Our $32,000 car isn't as good as BMW's $110,000 flagship coupe? Fire this guy.

That would have to be the most boring uniformed piece of crap press talk I have ever heard, I could not even listen to the ending.

When that jerk started talking about engine sealing with "flaps around a circle thing that open and close!" and Drop the clutch at 8000 RPM "cos it won't go anywhere unless you do"...they totally lost me.

Also...'Got no torque unless its over 7000 RPM, 'maximum is actually 5500 RPM'.

This guy has no business reviewing cars. Not only is he not an enthusiast, everything is seen through the prism of how much electronic gadgetry is stuffed in the vehicle- which is OK for a tech magazine, I suppose, but if you're judging a car because of the gadgets, don't pretend you're a capable reviewer.

That "notabot" guy that posted on the thread there sorta saved the day, but we should definitely make more comments. :/ I hate when people spout crap they don't even know what they're talking about. And MP3Guy said it best..This guy isn't even an enthusiast, because we all know that a real car enthusiast appreciates all sports cars, especially ones with great handling. :/ Guys like these remind me of people at my work... " Trade in that crap for a BMW! They NEVER lose!" ugh...

The fact that people keep comparing the 8 to other cars that cost waaayyyy more is a plus to us. It kills me how they expect the RX8 to beat cars that have thousands more under the hood and all around....freakin idiots!

besides, the CNET reviews are more focused on the tech gadgets. these guys would rather have a smart for two with a super cool nav and voice control instead of a Veyron w/out the nav.

CNET should stick to high tech items.
