2009 RX-8 AT new oil pan and filter pics

Here ya go,,,
As you can see there is a cover over the oil pan now. And the oil pan is not a pan so much as a cover over the new aluminum housing design. And the oil filter is under the cover and in the front left corner of the engine underneath.

The oil pan pic is from the right side looking towards the left side front of the car is on the right side of the pic.

I have heard it has more capacity just don't have any figures on it. I do know the engine oil cooler is larger too. At least on this AT.

I don't think that would change. Just the size/capacity of the engine oiling sustem.
As in better cooling. One could only hope.

Nothing. It's still rated at 212 for the 6 Port AT.

Hey Easy, I think that Mazda North America should 'hire' you as their new engine product tester. Basically, if their product can stand up to 6 months of "Easy" driving, it can stand up to ANYTHING

Just my .02. Good luck bro. Keep us in the loop.

I mean, what would the chances be of YET another motor? 'Cmon.

The tech said it did have one misfire in the log. Of the last 10 drive cycles. He also said he did a compression test on it, but I never heard the numbers. He said he was going to do another compression test on it.
He test drove it and had a bout of sluggishness on acceleration above 4000 rpm, but no CEL's.
I've never had a CEL in either RX-8 I've owned in three years. Makes me think the lights are burned out.
Why me?
