I was the first one to ride on the new 6 mile stretch tollway a few months ago. A friend of mine designed it and I got first shot at it, it's pretty much a straight shot all the way down , no entrances or exits and slightly veers down from start to finish and back up at the last 1/4 mile. I was easy able to reach 160 , couldn't go any faster than that and also keep in mind my car is lowered about two inches with full no-cat exhaust system , filter, and upgraded coils. Car felt smooth up until 155 then the doors started to vibrate.

The car feels solid going at a high rate of speed. But if you ever get a semi driver who decides to change into the passing lane for no reason at all, just in front of you as you're doing triple digit speeds ... the car won't feel that solid as you slam on the brakes and find it doesn't quite stop as fast as you think it does.
Also this story comes to you from a magic race track that allows dipshit semi drivers on it.

Only the stupid and short lived make top speed attempts on anything but a smooth open road without any other cars/trucks on it. I.E, a track.
Someone that is making this type of attempt at a top speed run with just a single open lane is retarded, and hopefully they swerve into a tree instead of the family of 8 in that minivan.

It was just an observation that it is missing from the steering wheel.
Yea, Im sure the extra 1 lb the cruise control adds makes a huge difference.
And what does it being a rotary have to do with wanting cruise control or not?

Did that once in my 2004 RX8 - three speed runs on a deserted morning new highway in a very rural part of Canada with a "rabbit" friend out in front of me who was doing 100 mph. I'd fall back and do a run from around 60mph to whatever - did 125, 130 and then 133 and decided that was enough. As close to straight and level as you can get.
I do remember going from 120 to 133 taking quite a while without a downhill assist. I felt going faster than I did wasn't prudent given the time it would take vs the ground covered.
I also remember if felt as smooth as driving any other car at 80mph.
I would not have done what they did on any road with traffic - all you need is one guy to slide over and its siyonara.
Haven't felt the need to exceed 100mph in the 2006...
