Right, well as far as I know there has yet to be a car manufactered that allows the car and any passengers to travel through solid matter so unless the owner wants to destroy his vehicle, the other vehicle, and anyone riding in both I'm pretty sure he's going to at least have to slow down or stop.

Not sure about that. The governor is somewhere around 148 mph tops I believe; so how they managed to reach 160+ is beyond me. I do recall reading people say the car gets unstable over 140+ which might be what you're referring to. Of course different body kits and spoilers can change that.

On the M/T cars there is not a governor. They are only limited by aero resistance and hp. A/T cars are suppose to be limited at 120 mph. The previous high speed I have seen listed was 155. This guy must have a strong engine. I've been to 135 and the front end felt funny. Others have said that if you go beyond that the car settles down again. On the dyno, the car will redline in 6th gear at 186 mph.
If you go the the YouTube site he says the car is stock.

havent watched the vid, but depending - its entirely plausible. I've got into the upper 150's with ease on long downhills. though on stock suspension and aero, it gets flaky IMO over 130-140... very flaky for that kind of speed
Alot of 'stock' options can easily affect aerodynamics at that speed, including top speed and stability. Options such as the appearance package, moonroof wind deflector and spoiler. Then there is windows down vs up, including the rear ones, etc... I could easily see adding all of these knocking quite a few MPH off the top speed.
It also looks like the latter section of that video he is on a shallow downhill. It helps.

Wait a minute why were you going 135....
Until I find out what his max speed on the GPS is, I'm not going to say that he really hit 165+mph. Perhaps he has aftermarket wheels and tires to add to the inaccuracy of the speedometer. I'm not doubting him, but it is never accurate to read the speedo at speeds like that.

Thanks for that catch, AN.
167mph all stock...simply amazing.
