I think from a liability point they will not reinstall any Modifications to the car.

They are warrenting the engine. A stock engine. They are not going to give you a new engine and then install Mods., and then guarentee the new engine.

Doesn't make sense. This includes the Pullies and intake etc..

But then again who knows what they will do.

You need to be nice and corgidable when speeking to a competent Tech or Service writer.

If you do this, most likely they will put the motor back to what it was with the Mods.

Then you need to negotiate or discuss how they will warrenty the new motor.

So you have a turbo, and you want me to replace the engine for a vaccum leak and gaurantee the new engine for x number of miles? (100,000) Look at it from their point of view.

yeah, it doesnt make sence to me that mazda will say NO, to your car becuase of an exhaust, intake, pullies.. how would those Cause a vaccume leak?

I don't think anyone will really know until people start going in to get their engines tested, and then come back here with the reports.

I just installed an Umnitza CAI and I'm already worried that if they see that they'll immediately disqualify me for a new engine. With the way Mazda has been running itself lately, for all we know it could depend on the mood of the person you work with! Blegh...

I got one of those Pettit radio ***** and I heard that may cause a frequency interferance with the vaccum causing a leak.

I'm just left wondering how many engines will actually meet Mazda's criteria for replacement, even if some ultimately get disqualified for "mods." I'm certainly no expert on mods to the Wankel (mine is showroom stock), but it would worry me some if the Renesis was so delicate that seemingly innocuous things such as 3rd party "performance enhancing" airfilters and mufflers would somehow harm the engine. Deeper things, such as messing with flash curves and other computer feedback items I can understand as possibly detrimental if not done with extreme care and proven safe with long-term testing. In any case, I hope the need for engine replacements are few and far between.

If the 8 is your primary car..or for some other reason cannot do without it for a perid of time, you dont have the oppourtunity to call BS and sue the dealer..you have to suck it up and deal with it yourself.

I think what you get is an engine that has not been run with synthetic oil in a hot climate, and therefore is not blowing excess oil into the cat.

From the info in the news stories, the issue is damage to the cat, not problems with how the engine itself is running. It seems to me that if you live in a state with emissions testing, you really need to follow the recall.

so now since its been said 5 times. the only way well know who makes it is the results my forum members. i thik its time we send in a modded rx8 lets see what happens. preferable somone who has alreadly looked at that hose, determined that it was fine and i working order and then take it in and se if they kick you out immediatly.
