NYCGPS - I feel for you man... I hope you're not too pissed about it. Two years ago I was hit and run while parked and paid out of pocket for my destroyed back bumper and trunk frame. NY is tough on cars. Before I moved here I didn't know why I didn't see more hooked up rides on the roads - now I know. It's really hard to keep a car looking fresh and clean in this jungle.

FWIW, in New York City, you can just go to the police precinct in the area and ask for a police accident report form. It's a bit convoluted but it's not that hard to fill out. Once you've done so, just mail it in and they'll file it. You keep a copy for insurance purposes. This helps your insurance company pin down the perp or his/her insurance company.

Not a good week for '05 Shinkas. I just got aft-rammed in a driving range parking lot yesterday and the perp took off. Probably one of those morons that backs up until they hit something!
Fortunately (?) just a bumper indentaton that should be able to be pushed out and a small amount of paint cracking since the bumper was hot at the time. One exhaust surround was cracked so I'll have to replace that.
I'll most likely pull off the bumper and bring it to the local shop.
Just six months ago I increased my deductable to a high level since my family and I never get in accidents, so I'll be sucking up this one.

The only thing I found the NYPD good for is owning one of those shirts that has their badge on the top left with NYPD over it walking into Dunkin Donuts. If you are even at least in decent physique shape they think you're a cop and give you discounts. I got like 2-4 bucks off after that wearing the shirt, score.
i dont eat DD stuff much (maybe just coffee) but I will try that next time ... lol

Just came back from Geico with estimate
they dunno the price of the MS rear bumper. So I have to either --
Buy a new one myself, fax him the invoice so he can add it to the estimate
or
let the shop handle it (they buy it and blah blah blah)
Im thinking ... should I buy it myself and add it, so I can get a few hundred reward points for my credit card ... LOL
