Would it be safe to purchase a Certified '04 RX8?

A dealer near me has a '04 RX8 that's got alot of options and the touring package. Thing is is that I'm a little hesitant about buying an '04 model as Mazda had to work out alot of bugs that were, for the most part, taken care of in the '05 and '06 models. But this car is Certified Pre-Owned so I'm just not sure about it. What do you guys think?

How many miles are on it and what was its original sale date? It probably still has some of the original factory warranty too. There are plenty of us with 04's with few or no proplems. Regardless of "certifications", always get the Carfax and have your own mechanic check it out. I would never buy a car that was in a major collision.

04 Rx8

Call the last owner and see if they had any problems. Also, a Mazda dealer can check to see if all the recalls have been taken care of. I have an 04 model and have not had any problems what so ever with the car other than a couple of recalls ,which hadn't caused me any problems before hand.. It has 30K miles on the odo. Love the car. I test drove G35, 350 Z and GTO beforeI settled on the '8" those cars had problems too and still do. I didn't like the 350 Z for various reasons, but mainly because it looks like aan upside down bathtub wth wheels. . Have fun..
