Winter Tires

I've been looking for snow tires. It looks like the Dunlop Winter Sports M3 gets the best reviews. Could anyone give me some feedback?

I did. There are a few other options, but it looks like people think the Dunlops are the best. I was just wondering if anyone thought there was something better. I had an accident last winter because of the snow ( I was driving literally 6 mph), and I just want to make sure that doesnt happen again.

I got a set of Blizzaks for my Z. From my research, I would go with either the Winter Sport M3 or the Blizzaks. I also found that Dunlop is coming out with a new winter tire this year, the 3D something or another. I would check those out too.

M3s are great, although I have this nagging feeling that the Blizzaks would give better lateral stability.

Nada prob. I have the M3's and I love 'em. I tested them a few times by stomping on the gas and forcing them to spin. Even then they regained grip again very quickly.

get a beater for the same price as winters and save the 8, they don't deserve to be left in the snow. You save on insurance and gas over the winter, she's ready for you in the spring.

I don't know about where you live, but I looked into this and couldn't find a decent winter beater for a grand. By "decent", I mean one that has a very high likelihood of getting me where I need to go EVERY time and doesn't need money poured into it, or isn't a 20 year-old Civic that would be a deathtrap if you got hit by an Camry, never mind any SUV you can think of.

If you want a good performance on snow, Nokian RSi, Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50, and Michellin X-Ice seem to be good. I believe these come in the size for RX-8. If studded is ok in your state, Nokian Hakkapelliitta 4 (this is what I got) is supposed to be the best one with the size for RX-8.

Beater is still a good option. Bought a 94 civic with 89K on it a year and a half ago. Runs great and very good gas milage. Paid 2K for it but saves the chance of the 8 getting hurt. Oh, and the babes you get driving around in a 94 civic, priceless

...and when the chicks avoid you in that car, you can yell:

"This is a 94 Honda, HOW DARE YOU??"

I am looking at Toyo Garit KX, which I am told are comparable to the Dunlop M3, but supposedly Toyo makes a somewhat "softer" tire. I do have Toyo snow tires on my Grand Caravan ES, and the performance is amazing. Last winter I was broadsided while driving my former van on Michelin-X tires, and they saved my life (really).
