Width of frame?

Width of frame?

Anyone know the difference in width of frame of the RX8 vs. the RX7?

I know the rear portion of the 8 is smaller than that of the 7 (or at least seems to be at a glance), but from the front, the 7 looks wider than that of the 8 as well.

So I'm wondering by just how much exactly. Unfortunately, I haven't found a 7 around Dallas to take a look at lately and compare, so I have to ask.

These cars don't have frames.

But if you SEARCH you might find specifications that help you.

The measurement you want is "track width" - that's the width of the car from hub surface to hub surface at each axle.

ah thank you, here's what I came up with for the 8

"External dimensions: overall length (inches): 174.3, overall width (inches): 69.7, overall height (inches): 52.8, wheelbase (inches): 106.4, front track (inches): 58.9, rear track (inches): 59.3 and curb to curb turning circle (feet): 34.8"

and for the 7

"Track f/r: 55.9 inches / 55.1 inches
Length: 170.1 inches
Width: 65.7 inches
Height: 49.6 inches
Ground Clearance: 5.7 inches"

So front track difference, the 7 is actually the more narrow of the two, 3 inches shorter to be exact, while its rear is definitely the wider by 4.2 inches.

Mostly stats for my own comparison, but throwing them out there if anyone was interested.

I would have like to have a bit more width and a little lower.

Then get a wide bodykit and lower your car...

how far could you go with that though?

I would also like some width on the car, say about as much as on some custom RX7's. I think a good example might be the orange on black RX7 from Tokyo Drift. Amazing looking in my opinion. Trying to see if its possible to get an RX8 to look along those lines
