^ how do you fit?
Are you comfortable? Even on a long drive (ie several hours?)
I cant imagine the whining I will have to listen to on a road trip..

6'6" might have it.
I'm pretty comfortable, but any taller and I might not be driving the 8.
Long drives are fine because the seats are so comfortable!
I agree, the passenger side is worse. That's why I don't let anyone else drive!

That's odd that the long-legged people have thus far said the RX-8 feels "made for them." My FD made me feel like my legs started above my neck; Seat all the way forward, knees jamed under the console, having to grunt as I manuvered my foot from gas to brake...
...yet my arms felt like I was trying to reach out past the car in front of me.
I dunno what it is about me. In my 8 I sit VERY close. My knees have less than a centimeter's clearence from the underside of the dash, when I let off the clutch I need to do this leg twistie-manuver-turn thing to keep my knee from hitting the back of the steering wheel, I'm leaned back so far that my head is directly under the BACK of the sunroof (as far as my arms will comfortably let me lean back).
I won't lie - I really like the way I fit i the car when I'm driving around on in-town twisty roads because my butt doesn't budge no matter what I do. Slam on the brakes and my knees press on the dash holding my legs & hips perfectly in place, seatbelt does the rest. Downshift hard and slide nowhere because gravity already has me plastered in my seat. Take a turn and move less than an inch in either direction because my butt and shoulders are burried in the contours of the seat, and my knees immediately press up against the dash/door/center console keeping my feet right where I want them - In a word: PERFECT.
Now, put me on a highway for 45 minutes and the car sucks. ZERO wiggle room! Sliding to get comfortable bangs my knees on the dash, trying to sit up and relieve my back results in my neck being cocked uncomfortably to the side. Shift my weight to the left or right and gravity + my La-Z-Boy sitting style makes my *** slip across the leather right back to where I didn't want to be. In a word: VICODIN (really inflames my back injury).
And perhaps "bang my head" is the wrong choice or words. When I sit up to get out, my head is already touching the ceiling. My head just slides along the fabric as I lean to get out. The little lip by the door can catch me off guard if I'm not paying attention and gives my head a good jerk as I'm getting out. There's no actual "bang," just a good "omph".

This picture was taken about a year ago. I've actually reclined the seat a little futher back since my hair would rub the headliner when I'd check my blind spots

Poor guy, lol.
I've got long legs, but I'm still shorter than you.. it fits better than any other car I've driven. Perhaps because I can adjust the seat so many different ways. I do bang my knees on the dash too, thats always been an issue, but I sit far back so its not that much of a problem.
If you slide your head you're doing one better than me. But I guess mine doesnt touch the roof.. I cracked it getting in, and bang it getting out. I think I'm just in too much of a rush (usually late for work ) and thats my problem. When I dont spring in and out like it was my life on the line, I dont have an issue (and no headaches)

Just a thought… maybe you should ask for height and inseam—I suspect it's not so much how tall you are, but how tall you are from the waist up. I don't know what the exact numbers would be, but if you're, say, 6'1" with a 33" inseam, you're probably ok—6'1" with a 31" inseam, not ok. If that makes any sense.

Hmm… so the problem is not being "tall"—but tall with short legs. (Assuming you're not super tall.)
Which makes sense—the 8 has only 1.5 inches of headroom—less than any other car (only one other car is 1.5 inches—the MX-5). Front leg room is 40"—a dimension the 8 shares with many cars. (Those numbers are from Consumer Reports' annual Auto issue. Sorry, don't know if it's with moonroof or without.)

5'11" w/ spiked hair and still an inch or two of clearance. No issues with hitting the headliner, although when I check my blind spots occasionally my hair will brush the top.

6'4" and @ 240, and I fit pretty good. No problems with 3-4 hour car trips. I have had four people in my car at once, but the person sitting behind me had to kick their legs up onto the lap of the other person in the back seat. Other than that, nobody really is going to sit behind me, except a double amputee.

6' 6", 214 lbs and fit just fine but I don't have the moonroof. With that, I don't fit for sure.
Sometimes I feel I could use an inch or two more seat travel, but I'm exactly at the point that I consider borderline.
Nobody can sit behind me though. My seat is pushed all the way back in it's track, but I don't have to tilt the seatback to fit.
