White smoke

Help! noticed a small oil leak on my drive from my RX8. Placed oil in it yesterday, began to judder and lose power, then white smoke came from my exhaust and bonnet. Checked oil level and it was high. All around oil cap was oil residue. Now a larger patch of oil on driveway. Any ideas as to problem and solution?

Dark colored smoke is oil. White smoke is coolant.
Is the engine clean so you can go underneath and find out where your leaking? Put a piece of cardboard under the car over night to find where it is dripping from. You can start with something easy like checking that the oil filter is on tight. Also, check your oil levels daily since you have this leak.

What year is it?

On 04's and 05's the oil overflow tube dumps straight into the intake. If you overfilled it, the car dumped a bunch of oil into the intake which causes smoke and power loss. Check to make sure the oil level is correct and take apart the intake and check for oil. Clean it all out if necessary then find your oil leak like alnielsen suggested.
