There is no new ECU. The RX-8 ECU is flash-programmable. Mazda has released several updates to the ECU code, and the latest M flash is supposed to make the engine run smoother, more resistant to flooding after a cold shutdown, and improve gas mileage. However, it's still the same great ECU.
