Congratz on your 8.

However I cringe at your question. That is such a typical first question, and there are hundreds of threads asking it.

The last person to ask it had his thread turn into a war.

I'd suggest deleting your original post to avoid the same, and just going and searching out what there is to offer.

The first question before recommending anything should be ... what year

Take it to a autocross or track day and enjoy. Then you can figure out what you would like to do.

I guess I went *** backwards on this one

OP, try learning the car first before you start modding. Find it's strengths and weaknesses for you, then go from there.

If used car, this advice is sage.
If new, Cobb AP from MM is first. U cab pick up the coils after a few more miles.

why did someone recommend lights?

1st mod: Educate yourself.

Please start with the stickies on this site. All of them are informational and good reads.

2nd mod: All of the above work.

How about this: http://www.skipbarber.com/mazdadriving.asp

Cheaper than a new set of wheels, coilovers, full exhaust, any body kit, forced induction, a rebuilt engine, and just about any 2 other mods put together.

And it can be transferred from car to car free of charge, fits all makes and models, guaranteed for your life, requires no scheduled maintenance, will not void your warranty, race proven results, will make you faster on the track, and may save your life or the life of someone else.

Anyone care to name a mod that can compete with that?

I dont get why everybodys first thread has to be what first mod they should do. Heres an idea, why dont you just drive the car and enjoy it as the car is amazing the way it is. If your going to do any mods, mod the driver, not the car.

Replace the interior lights with bright blue LEDs. People love it when your car looks like an aquarium.
