I almost always have a big grin on my face when I've been driving in the 8 for over 10 minutes. I got my car in August and still can't stop talking about it. The honeymoon is certainly far from over. :D

My friend the other day said: "Dude, get over it, it's just a car." If I wanted just a car I would've gotten just a car. Not a $31k rev demon.

Got mine in april, and I still take the long route just to have more time driving it.

I like G8TRBoy's comment on this in another thread:

"They're going to have to surgically remove the grin from my face"

I got this one today:

"hey I was going to get one of those. But the one I test drove didn't have those back doors."

I have been trying to figure out all day if he was lying or if he had it confused with another car.

"Hey man is that the new MX-8? I've seen a few around town- one is a black convertible- how fast does it go?"

I didn't say anything as he was really into my car and I figure no harm no foul.

Old High School Patner: "What do ya got under the hood? Is that a 5.0?"
Me: "Nope, lil ole 1.3"
Old High School Patner: "Oh well, it looks fast"

a high schooler asked me in the parking lot while I was waiting to pick up my brother from school.
Him: "Is your car fast? because my friend said he beat one in his civic and his car is slow."
Me: "well maybe the other guy wasn't racing."
Him: "yes he was because my friend said he had rev'd his engine 3 times towards the rx-8"
Me: "so just because someone revs on you, your forced to race?"
Him:"yup it's the code of the streets."
Me:"ok....I'll keep that in mind."

One of my favorites, however, is "Why'd you buy a yellow "car?" My answer, "Uh, because I didn't want to be boring like you."

THANK YOU!!!!! thats what i am sayin!!!

I ALWAYS get the WHY DID YOU BUY A YELLOW CAR? ISNT THAT A COP MAGNET?

what like you dont think i accually noticed and thought about what color i bought.

i mean come on, if i didnt want a car that screams "LOOK AT ME" then i wouldnt have gotten a YELLOW RX-8, i would have gone with a white honda civic.

"My parents were going to get me one of those [pointing to my car] but I wanted the civic because it has larger aftermarket parts availability..."

Unfortunately the way the RX-8 has become such a popular seller, this will become very common.

But those engines will soon break down and leave only people who know what rotaries are with cars

I edited it. People who don't know what a rotary is probably won't be able to maintain the car, leaving only people who know what an rotary is driving RX8s.

I used to have a Porsche 914. Whenever someone wanted to see the engine, I'd pop the hood, stroll around to the front and open it. Then they'd see it's just a trunk. So I'd stroll around to the back, pop that open, and they'd see ... another trunk. Got some great reactions.

I kid you not this happened to me Thursday. My Mazda Service sends a lot attendant to get me from work and shuttle me back to the Svc Dept. He's talking about my car and remembers when I dropped it off earlier that day. He commented on the custom colored strakes and Greddy tips and starts asking how much hp the Greddy cat must have added to our already powerful 2 cylinder engine...
