This could be compression loss, coil failure, plug failure, plug wire failure, weak battery, or weak starter. Without more information about the history of your car, it's hard to say it's one vs the other.

This could be compression loss, coil failure, plug failure, plug wire failure, alternator failure, bad fuel, or clogged fuel filter. Without more information about the history of your car, it's hard to say it's one vs the other.

Probably your AEM intake. Hard to be sure with that description though.
4) when i start her up i hear fluid moving around
This is your heater core. It is normal for the RX-8. You can pay the dealer a lot of money to make it go away, but there is no functional change in anything, so just ignore it or get used to it.

oh not so many headaches, u just need to take some time to give it some TLC. But yea if you cannot be bothered and just want a normal conventional car well then the rx8 not for you.
GCRX-8 - we call those MPS3's here in Australia. Test drove one, very different ride to the 8. How do you find it?

99% of the problems and headaches of the RX-8 are owner caused.

Dude ... just some friendly forum advice ...
This post likely would have been more appropriate here in the Trouble Shooting area
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/
Or in the Regional area, Canada, where you would likely find someone that is living in your operating conditions or even on the rock.

first and foremost it wasnt bad advise, it was personal opinion, learn the difference. second i had the rx8 for 4 years, stealership maintained, the issues was one after another, but i never said i didnt enjoy the 8, it handled better than any car i have ever driven. With the bad economy and slow work, i couldnt keep up with the issues the 8 brought, I already had to engine replacements, upgraded everything coils, starter, wires, mounts countless flashes, but mpg was the main reason i had to part with it. Im sure the 2nd gen model is alot better.

I hear fluid moving around too, and also hear that weird "gurgling noise" when accelerating hard. I have a 2004 RX8 GT Auto with stock intake. I am getting the engine replaced today under warranty (warm start problem due to low compression), so hopefully that gurgling noise will disappear.
By the way, I highly recommend getting a compression test done before the extended warranty expires (160,000 KM's / 8 years). The problem with mine was at first it was hard to start when warm (took about 4 secs or so to start), but it got progressively worst. After 6 months, the engine wouldn't start at all when warm, and would have to wait 20 mins before it would start up. So I had the local Mazda dealership do a compression test at a cost of $89. The results were low compression on the second rotor. Since I have about 153,500 KM's, the engine replacement is being fully covered under warranty. I just barely dodged a major expense.

Lbrown: if you're still hearing the gurgling, it's probably coolant. Burp your system and it will mostly go away. It's pretty normal.
GCRX8: with 7 whole posts, telling someone to give up is bad advice. Glad you found a car you like, but it sounds like you didn't do your research first and didn't research the car you bought very well.
Van: same advise I gave Lbrown. Since you're about to get a new engine, make sure to mention the gurgling to the dealership. It should be fixed since they'll be flushing the coolant anyway.

fuztupnz: That seems to make sense. My coolant light will occasionally come on as well when accelerating hard, then turn off when eased off. At first I thought it just might be a flakey coolant sensor as my coolant levels were ok, but now I wonder if was due to trapped air-bubbles and just needed a burp?

I had the exact same problem and it was just air in the coolant lines...
I got rid of it by parking it on an incline, taking the cap off of the coolant tank, then running it for a short bit, adding more coolant when I needed too... That took care of the sound...
Also check and be sure your car isn't leaking any coolant into the ground... When mine got air in the lines I had a tiny hole in my upper radiator hose.

Take it from the guy whose 8 is at the dealer waiting for the new motor.
Try your plugs, coils, etc. Get the battery tested, sounds like the cells are failing.
If not go to mazda for a check up aka compression check.
Mine felt like it wouldnt start she took like 7 seconds before she'd finally catch and idled rough. Then it happen to flood one day, had her towed and she kept doing the same thing for dealer. they got a compression check.
I have an 04 as well. Engine warranty is up to 2012 and 100k miles. So under those you should be good, however, remove the intake just so they don't say that's the issue
