what do standard head lights look like?

I hope to pick up my Blue base model MT 2nd wk Oct. I have not been able to preview a base model.

I have only seen the xenon headlights that come on Sport, Touring or GT models. Could any of you with base model cars post pics or describe the headlights on the base models. The base model has Halogen lights and I am wondering if the are visibly different than the xenon. Please help.

I have the HID and you can tell the difference immediately
HID is brighter and sharper
standard is more dull and yellow

I know the output difference is obvious but what about the physical appearance of hardware. What are the visual differences of the HID and the halogen fixtures? Please can anyone tell me?

I think the look is virtually the same. It is the output that is different.

I couldn't see any difference in how they looked on the car, as they are hidden behind an large lens.

But they certainly looked different when on. Xenon lights are very blue away from dead centre, which is quite a good feature, blue lights sudeenly appearing in the rear view tend to make people quiet nervous, for obvious reasons, and get out of the way quickly!

Cheers

As we've noticed on our Project RX8, since we have a base model, the halogen lights aren't as bright as the HIDs but look cosmetically the same till the sun goes down the the diff in light out put is obvious. We are hopping that we can score a sorce for some HIDs for out car and mabey have some available for sale for all the base model owners, as few as there are.

Renotse,

I own a base model 6MT. The phsical look of the lights look exactly the same. You cannot tell by looking at the lights (lights off) wether or not they are Xenon. As others have commented the HID lights are much brighter. What they cannot comment on though is how bright the halogens are. I have been EXTREMELY pleased with the halogens. They are VERY bright. If you are like me and live in a major city, bright lights are not as important as if you lived out in the country where roads are not lit. Passengers have even commented on my lights and how bright they are. I'm sure the HID lights are as cool as everyone says they are, but if you are like me and have never had them before I can tell you that ignorance is bliss. I would highly recommend the base 6MT model to those who are looking to save a few bucks but get the exact car performance wise as those who get the car decked out with toys.

I second allstate's post. I have the base 6 speed, and the headlights are incredible. I thought sure they must have given me xenon lights by mistake, but no, they are just extremely bright and allow you to see for a good distance in front of you.
