I bought my 05 3 days ago with 16k miles from the dealer. i JUST posted an introduction and mentioned this noise without even noticing this thread. Its annoying when I'm at a drive-thru too. When you depress the clutch and shift into all gears...its loud. Like its transforming. It also has a random 4th gear grind at high rpms.

I will update you what MY dealer says on Saturday.

 

hm... I live in Tampa, FL... maybe I should go over there and have them check out. seems like a good dealer.

Guys... heres a suggestion: post the sounds/vid of the problem up on Youtube so that we can see to what extent your problem is. I plan on doing this soon.

 

completely normal. Every brand new rx8 on the dealer lot will do it too.

People are reading into posts too much and assuming the worse.

 

if I'm going like 70 on the highway, and I put it in reverse, should it make noise?
