Finally pieced everything today. I could not justify paying amost $700 for the Racing Beat gauge kit, especially since it used be around $400... I guess I'm also one of the few that prefers mechanics gauges over electric...

I'm with you on the gauges, the only place I prefer the digital gauge is the speedometer. So the rx8 works out great!

That's a nice set. Did you have to buy everything separately for that, or can you get the whole set?

Thank you, I bought everything separately. I went for the same exact gauges and sensor adapters RB uses for their own kit and bought the Lo-Tek pod instead since I don't like the ash tray location.

In case people are interested in doing the same, the model numbers from the top of my head I believe are Auto Meter 3332, 3321, 3341 and two 2263 3/8" NPT adapters.

Replaced carbin air filters. Installed a Gentek Homelink mirror and a rear view camera. Camera was more of a "why not?" purchase after I installed a Pioneer headunit last month. I was able to fish the camera cable to the rear trunk grommet with the bumper in place so installation was a breeze.

Yesterday, I took my 8 to the track for 115 miles of thrilling goodness.

Today, I installed these, and now my 8 sounds like it has taken up the kazoo (yes, I'm aware of the break-in period).

I spent the last few hours calibrating the MAF and charging the air conditioner system.

You put on a couple of leaf blower motors as superchargers?

SoCal weather warmed up allowed me to finally change my oil. It was starting to gunk up from the cold weather.

LED lights

I replaced the interior lights to LED's.
Bluish whites. In the doors I put red LED's. I think those help when opening the doors at night, for coming traffic.

Tires

I finally replaced the original Bridgestones with new Continentals Extreeme Contact DW s. They look awesome, very quite on the road and lots of grip. I highly recomend these tires.

Took a Spring Break trip to southern Arizona, around the Tucson area. Got nearly 25mpg on one of the tanks of gas! It's such a nice highway car.

How does one calibrate a MAF(mass air flow sensor)??.

You need a tuner to do it. The ECU has to be reprogrammed.

The kissing emoticon is disturbing.

Without catalyst, I presume? Because the catalyst Charles uses is not rated for racing and you shouldn't need to use a catalyst on the track anyways.

Edit: Just saw your earlier post with the picture of the midpipe, which doesn't have a cat. Enjoy the sweet sound!

Raising the final drive ratio to the factory S2 level (4.777) results in shorter gears and some claim the resultant changes in gearing help with various aspects of driving.

Replaced my 7 year old set of Prosport Gauges with the new Evo line. Installation was a breeze since I was just replacing the gauges and the senders.

Decided to ditch the oil pressure guage for a volt gauage because (1) the electric oil pressure is gargage, I replaced it three times, and (2) I suffered two dead batteries, although alternator is fine, since I owned the car so want to keep an eye on the voltage.

The other two are oil temp and water temp. Oil temp sensor isn't hooked up yet, waiting until next oil change to swap out the senders as the old doesn't work with the new guages (reads way too high).
