What About The Warranty

I have a 2004 rx8 and looking to do major modifications such as: turbo and racing clutch and flywheel. What happens to the warranty ive been told that it voids it completley but also heard that it doesnt....Whats the truth?? Yes or No

If you get a turbo then it will void the warranty.

Ain't he nice ^_^. Anyways, search and you will find out about the Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act where the dealer must prove that modification would adversely affect the damaged part. If not, then it should still be covered by the warranty. If not, sue.

the facts are here. but i agree, why do maintenance at a dealership? Only if you have a problem that should be covered under warranty should you be there, and even with that you should make sure its something that will be covered and couldn't have happened because of your turbo or else youlll have to pay to get your car.

true...the only time i really go to the dealership is when something is mechanically wrong basically im wondering if i take my car in for something and they see that i have a turbo and they say my car is no longer covered under warranty... ive heard stories of that happening from a friend who used to work at the dealership

find a good local rotary specialist. that's what i did. dealer won't be seeing my car again, unless there is another recall or reflash or whatever.

They will "brand" you warranty meaning that anything that has to do with your engine, from the intake to the exhaust is gone. If you blow your engine, it won't be covered, and they will most likely go after anything that is connected to the engine. For example if your clutch goes, they will blame it on your turboed engine generating too much tq. But if your wheel falls off, or you have a problem with a part that is not associated with your engine, then they will most likely do work on it.

This comes from personal experience.
