WD40 exhaust leak
I read some were about using wd40 to produce white smoke from your exhaust as a way of finding any gas leaks in the exhaust system .
Is it safe to do this with the 8 . I'm thinking of spraying it into the air intake after the MAF to find any .

where exactly are you trying to find leaks? if trying to find leaks in the intake system of the car, you would actually spray something safe like maf cleaner (or if old school a smoke machine or propane) on the vac lines to see if it causes a fluctuation in idle.
if you are trying to find a leak in the exhaust stream you would use the old school method of soap and water,
Spraying WD40 in your intake is going to do nothing for you except kill your idle for a moment or two.

our exhaust system isn't very intricate so it shouldn't be too difficult to find. get a spray bottle and fill it with soap and water. Start the car, and while the exhaust is still cold, spray some of the solution onto wherever you think the leak is, if there is a leak it will bubble

or if it's hot, jack the car up, get a feather, go over the exhaust joints about 10cm away and you will see it the feather flutter when you go by the leak. I have used this technique, and like paimon said, the exhaust is not complicated (four places where it could leak I believe).

If he wants to do that he could just seafoam or atf the engine then start it up.
The 8's exhaust is pretty bulletproof. The only real place to have a leak (using stock components) is at the manifold-to-cat front connection, where the gasket does deteriorate with high mileage. The rear graphite gasket will probably never fail or leak and I can't see the engine block-to-manifold gasket ever going bad either.
